The French superstar, Thierry Henry, expressed his frustration at playing with Barcelona in a position he is not familiar with. According to Henry, this may affect his effectiveness with his country's team during the upcoming Euro 2008.

Henry participated with Barcelona in most of the season's games as a left winger, a position that he is not comfortable with.

Henry admitted to L'Equipe that his position in Barcelona doesn't suit him, but stressed that he would not oppose the desire of Frank Rijkaard.

Henry stressed that his main concern stems from whether or not he can play at his original position as a striker anymore with the French national team during Euro 2008.

Henry said, "We have to be honest here, I think it's going to be a problem for me."

He also expressed that he somehow felt "lost" while playing with his national team against Spain last February as a lone striker. He added, "I did not have the same effect on goal. I don't react as precisely as before and this is going to cause a problem."

He also said, "I hope that in the period between the end of the season with Barcelona and the beginning of the European championship, there will be an opportunity to play again as a striker so I can regain my danger on goal."

The French striker's name has always appeared on lists of top scorers over the eight year span spent with Arsenal, but it has been only seven goals so far with Barcelona.

Henry was not optimistic that this situation may change in the upcoming stages if he continued to play in the same position.

"It is impossible to compare now with what I contributed with Arsenal. Simply, it's impossible," pointing out that asking him to play at the same level he played with Arsenal is pretty much impossible.

He continued, "but more importantly in football is to play for the team."

Finally, Henry's ongoing complaints regarding his position are valid and understood. However, Henry is a world-class player and one of the best scorers in the world, ongoing complaints will not benefit him as a player.

In fact, it might create more tensions in Camp Nou, especially after Ronaldinho's controversy.

It's not as if Rijkaard is asking Henry to play as a central midfielder or a left midfielder. He's still scoring, maybe not at the same level with Arsenal in the past, but he's scoring.

Quite frankly, it's for his benefit because sometime over Euro 2008 when the French national team desperately need that winning goal, Henry can move into that "unpreferred" position and create critical plays or score a critical goal.
