Desperate Chicago Bulls fans, this one's for you.
It may not be quite what you had in mind after missing an entire season's worth of Derrick Rose dunks. It might not vindicate the hope you had repeatedly dashed every time he wasn't in that 2012-13 starting lineup.
But hey, it's a highlight! Even if the basket wasn't quite a full 10 feet.
Let's just hope that's not the hoop he's been practicing on this whole time.
Rose has actually been on tour for Adidas in Europe, promoting his brand and giving European fans a rare taste of NBA superstardom. After missing all of the 2012-13 NBA season while recovering from a torn ACL, this is only the beginning of the whirlwind summer he'll endure before finally taking the floor again.
The 24-year-old former MVP recently told Hoopsfix (via Beyond the Buzzer) that he's "trying to become an icon." With an Eastern Conference dominated by the Miami Heat and featuring a new-look challenger in the Brooklyn Nets, Rose will have an opportunity to do just that.
In the meantime, we'll have to take whatever meaningless eye candy we can get. There had been rumors Rose would give us a sneak preview with a Drew League cameo.
Not definitive Derrick Rose will play today in Drew League. That isn't stopping these fans from waiting to get inside pic.twitter.com/Bl86ZK8ped— Mark Medina (@MarkG_Medina) July 21, 2013
Rumors that were subsequently shot down.
Derrick Rose is not at the Drew League and will not be playing obviously. In other news, Clipper Darrell is here.— Arash Markazi (@ArashMarkazi) July 21, 2013
I don't know about you, but I'll just as soon wait for Rose to make his proper return—in front of the fans who've been waiting for their hero so long. There won't be as many between-the-legs dunks, but I don't think anyone will mind.
