Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Luis Suarez Would Make Gunners Instant EPL Contenders
Arsenal have been linked to several top players this summer, but no name bigger than Luis Suarez.
According to The Sun's Tony Little on Saturday, "bookies stopped taking bets on the £25 million-rated Liverpool striker quitting Anfield for the Emirates." The report suggests that the Gunners could be in the mix to land Suarez:
"And it was a series of massive bets in Spain — with the Gunners as his destination — which forced William Hill to close their market.Spokesman Rupert Adams said: “It would suggest they have heard something substantial.”

Although there has been little to suggest this move is likely, there's no doubt that Arsenal would become an instant Premier League contender in this transfer scenario.
The numbers are quite encouraging.
Suarez exploded for 23 goals and eight assists last season in the English Premier League, making him a coveted player this summer. At age 26, Suarez is just coming into his prime, and he is the sort of world-class forward that could hold the key to Arsenal challenging the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City next season.
Beyond adding depth to the top of Arsene Wenger's lineup, Suarez would help the Gunners score some much-needed points in the intimidation category. A player of his caliber forces the opposition to pay close attention to him and game-plan accordingly.
Plus, Suarez is more than just a handful with the ball at his feet. The Uruguayan striker can make excellent runs without the ball, opening up scoring chances for himself and others.
Above all, though, Suarez has become known for his tremendous technical ability and superb striking. His ability to create chances and constantly put the defense under pressure would be a huge asset for Arsenal to have moving forward.
A key stat to keep in mind: The Gunners managed just 25 away goals in league play last season compared to 47 at home. On the road, Suarez would be a serious threat not only on the attack, but also during free kicks where he'd be given a clean look at the ball.
An elite, versatile forward, Suarez would be a Robin van Persie-like piece, providing Arsenal with the one critical item it currently lacks.
It remains to be seen just how likely a move from Liverpool to Arsenal is for Suarez, but there's no question that the Gunners would be better off with the controversial superstar on board, especially when it comes to contending with the Premier League's other star-laden powerhouse clubs next season.
