Charlotte Bobcats Ruin Their Own Draft Party with Cody Zeller Selection

Cody Zeller is walking into a stress-free rookie season, because it seems there is very little in the way of lofty expectations from the likes of Charlotte Bobcats fans.

Here is video spotted by Zach Harper of CBS Sports, featuring something that might be a yearly tradition in Charlotte: fans getting absurdly disappointed by the team's draft selection.

We take you to Thursday night's broadcast being shown here for a wealth of Bobcats faithful who actually believed the pick would be so fantastic they decided to show up to watch it on a big screen.

I guess they thought they might get some flashy talent in the form of Nerlens Noel or Ben McLemore. Hell, Alex Len, a big man thought to be a real threat to go No. 1 overall, was still around at the No. 4 spot.

In the end, the Bobcats took Zeller, a pick that turned a festive draft party into a reason to walk to the parking lot in an apparent huff, cursing the franchise that once drafted Adam Morrison with the No. 3 overall pick in 2006.

Honestly, shame on Bobcats fans for expecting an NBA draft pick that made total sense.

In the end, this wasn't an awful pick. There are some, like Sports Illustrated's Ben Golliver and USA Today's Adi Joseph, who see the value of Zeller on this particular roster.

Alas, a versatile big man who can run the floor and consistently knock down free throws doesn't exactly make for a sexy pick.

I am sure Zeller is now giddy to greet all those fans who spit their beer the moment his name was announced.

Now I really can't wait to see what the Bobcats have in store for us next season, because it's sure to be a doozy.
