Barcelona's decision to enable a secondary buyout clause in Thiago's contract could prove to be a monumental blunder.

Thiago's buyout clause drops to 18M at the end of a season if he didn't play 30+ minutes in 60% games. On 1 August, it's 90M again. [catr]

    — barcastuff (@barcastuff) May 29, 2013

    He is a future superstar.

Cesc Fábregas, Barcelona CM/DLF, Age: 26

2 of 14

According to Ben Smith at BBC Sport, Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fábregas is subject to a £25 million bid from Manchester United.

It's going to test what Fábregas said back in 2011, from Sky Sports via Agence France-Presse: "Apart from Arsenal and Barcelona, I don't see myself playing anywhere else."

Fábregas went through patches of the season where he had minimal impact though his hat trick of assists vs. Deportivo La Coruña and his three goals plus an assist against Mallorca demonstrates his ability to be world-class.

22 - Only Lionel Messi (58) was involved in more La Liga goals for Barcelona last season than Cesc Fabregas (11 goals, 11 assists). Wanted.

    — OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) July 15, 2013

He is worth a lot more than £25 million, so expect Barça to knock back the bid.

Luis Suárez, Liverpool DLF, Age: 26

3 of 14

    UPDATE: July 14, 2013

Guardian and Mirror reporting Man City's interest in Luis Suarez. #LFC

    — This Is Anfield (@thisisanfield) July 14, 2013

According to Phil McNulty at BBC Sport, Arsenal's £30 million bid for Liverpool forward Luis Suárez was rejected.

Bizarre bid from the Gunners considering the Reds sold a deteriorating Fernando Torres to Chelsea for £50 million, therefore Liverpool would only sell Suárez for a substantially higher transfer fee.

Essentially, Arsenal were wasting Liverpool's time.

LFC should make a 27p bid for Wilshere in response to that laughable bid for Suarez.

    — Dave Hendrick (@DaveHendrickTLW) July 8, 2013

Arsenal are a well-run organisation so don't underestimate the purpose behind this bid.

It's a statement of intent from the club that they are proactively seeking out world-class footballers for significant transfer fees.

Speaking of world-class footballers, the Gunners are expected to announce the signing of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuaín in the coming days.

Arsenal hoping to close the signing of Gonzalo Higuaín before they jet off on their preseason tour, so that he can be part of it.

    — Kay Murray (@KayLMurray) July 7, 2013

You're probably thinking: "what is causing the delay?"

Sid Lowe: "Real Madrid trying to squeeze a bit more money out of Arsenal on Higuaín deal. It will still happen." http://t.co/D374bNdGqC

Leandro Damião, Internacional CF, Age: 23

    UPDATE: July 14, 2013

BREAKING: Napoli have reached an agreement in principle to sign Brazilian striker Leandro Damião from Internacional. Fee: €22M [Gazzetta]

    — Sánto (@Zizouology) July 14, 2013

    UPDATE: July 8, 2013

Leandro Damiao set to sign for Napoli. http://t.co/O1QAnJznAL

    — FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) July 7, 2013

Internacional have refuted claims that striker Leandro Damião will move to Southampton, according to Massimo Marioni at The Metro

Southampton have bid 20m € for Leandro Damiao, according to Sky Italy. Meeting set in next days

    — Tancredi Palmeri (@tancredipalmeri) June 28, 2013

Since top-scoring at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Damião's future has dragged on with no clear resolution in sight.

He's a complete forward who can hold up the ball and thrives when in possession. Despite slightly regressing in the past year, it's not surprising that most European clubs want him.

As it stands, three of the best players in the Brasileirão - Bernard, Leandro Damião and Paulinho - are very close to signing for Tottenham.

    — Sánto (@Zizouology) June 14, 2013

Ezequiel Garay, Benfica CB, Age: 26

5 of 14

    UPDATE: July 15, 2013

Several reports coming from Argentina now that Manchester United and Benfica have agreed at £17.2m transfer for Ezequiel Garay.

Manchester United to announce Ezequiel Garay signing from Benfica imminently. [record]

    UPDATE: July 2, 2013

UPDATE: Ezequiel Garay @Garay_24 has started following @ManUtd_Es (Spanish translations of Manchester United news) on Twitter.

    — Barclays PL News (@BarclaysLeague) July 2, 2013

Alan Nixon at The Mirror is reporting that Benfica's Ezequiel Garay will move to Manchester United.

Garay, a former Real Madrid centre-back, was one of Europe's best centre-backs last season.

Not only does he dominate aerially but he has a knack for making last ditched blocks to deny opposing  teams from scoring.

The main story on Portugese paper A Bola's website is that Ezequiel Garay will sign for Manchester United during next week.

    — Jonas Giæver (@CheGiaevara) June 30, 2013

Victor Wanyama, Celtic B2B MF, Age: 21

6 of 14

    UPDATE: July 12, 2013

Southampton have signed midfielder Victor Wanyama from Celtic on a four-year deal. Fee paid for the 21-year-old Kenyan is around £12m

    — BBC Sport (@BBCSport) July 11, 2013

    UPDATE: July 7, 2013

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed Southampton have renewed their interest in Victor Wanyama. http://t.co/p1jpejAVOl

    — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) July 7, 2013

    UPDATE: July 1, 2013

Victor Wanyama has apparently sacked his agents. More on this if/when I hear anymore.

    — Joseph Ruddy (@joebhoy2412) July 1, 2013

    UPDATE: June 27, 2013

Neil Lennon speaking to media on Victor Wanyama situation: "Lot of talk. We accepted a bid from Southampton, done nothing wrong." (MH)

    — Celtic Football Club (@celticfc) June 26, 2013

Angus Wright at Scotsman.com is reporting that Cardiff City is planning to take advantage of Victor Wanyama's contractual negotiation stalling with Southampton.

Southampton and Cardiff City are ready to compete for the signature of Celtic star Victor Wanyama. http://t.co/E5TRje4RHT

    — Graeme Bailey (@GraemeBailey) June 20, 2013

There's a misconception that the Celtic player is a limited defensive midfielder when he's actually a box-to-box midfielder.

He won back possession 5.3 times per UEFA Champions League game but also registered nine goals last season.

Sunderland Echo report that Jordan Henderson could be sold in order for #LFC to make a move for Victor Wanyama.

David Villa, Barcelona CF/LF, Age: 31

7 of 14

    UPDATE: July 9, 2013

Barcelona confirm David Villa to move to Atletico Madrid, who have beaten Spurs to sign the Spain striker. #FCB #THFC http://t.co/h6a3AQKaUZ

    — ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) July 8, 2013

    UPDATE: July 8, 2013

David Villa has reached a principal deal with Tottenham. He could join them this week. Clubs discussing fee, Barcelona want 10M. [mirror]

    — barcastuff (@barcastuff) July 8, 2013

Barcelona forward David Villa could join Tottenham Hotspur, according to Jack Wilson at The Daily Star

Villa has rarely played the entirety of a Barcelona season as a No. 9 but his finishing is still world-class.

Last season, he scored 10 league goals from 45 shots and if Spurs end up with Villa, it's going to give star player Gareth Bale another reason to stay.

Looking increasingly like David Villa will complete a move to Spurs after the Confederations Cup, Villa & Paulinho - good business for THFC?

    — Ian Abrahams (@BroadcastMoose) June 28, 2013

Arouna Koné, Wigan Athletic CF, Age: 29

8 of 14

    UPDATE: July 8, 2013

BREAKING: Everton confirm signing of striker Arouna Kone from Wigan on three-year deal for undisclosed fee. #EFC

    — Official Everton (@Everton) July 8, 2013

    UPDATE: June 28, 2013

Sky Sports sources understand that Everton have made an enquiry for Arouna Kone. http://t.co/fHdt07pNeB

    — Graeme Bailey (@GraemeBailey) June 27, 2013

Arouna Kone has announced his intentions to leave Wigan Athletic via Vic Holly at The Sun:

You always have ambitions as a footballer, and I don’t intend to play in the English second division.

Wigan have gone down, which is a real shame. It’s up to them to set out their stance about my situation.

Crystal Palace have gone up, and from the moment a club is in the Premier League that is good for me.

I’m under contract with Wigan for two more years. But if there is an offer that is good for both me and Wigan I will seek to leave.

Wigan forward Arouna Kone has revealed he has had a number of ‘approaches’ from clubs as he declared his desire to leave the relegated club.

    — FootballFacts101 (@FootballFact101) June 23, 2013

Kone can play as a No. 9 but has no problems as a wide forward with the license to cut in.

He scored and created a combined 16 league goals for Wigan last season and his history with Lierse, Roda and Levante suggests he's more suited to playing for unfancied teams.

Norwich are competing with Everton for Wigan striker Arouna Kone who has a £5m buy-out clause. [Mail]

Yohan Cabaye, CM, Newcastle United

9 of 14

    UPDATE: July 3, 2013

Laurent Blanc admits PSG want to sign Edinson Cavani and Yohan Cabaye http://t.co/MINnNPBbWi via @guardian

    — Guardian sport (@guardian_sport) July 3, 2013

Paris Saint-Germain are set to bid £20 million for Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye, according to Louise Taylor at The Guardian.

For some inexplicable reason, no major club decided to sign Cabaye for £4 million even though he was one of the most consistent midfielders in Europe.

This enabled Newcastle to buy Cabaye from Lille and he's been elite for the Toon.

3 - Since joining Newcastle, no-one has scored more goals direct from free-kicks in the Premier League than Yohan Cabaye. Struck.

    — OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) June 8, 2013

Newcastle have fallen away from their European aspirations and with the hiring of Joe Kinnear as the club's director of football, it could sway Cabaye to leave.

Joe Kinnear says he didn't call Yohan Cabaye, 'Kebab' during his interview on @talkSPORT, but admits he got the name wrong #NUFC

Ashley Williams, Swansea City CB, Age: 28

    UPDATE: July 12, 2013

Arsenal step up their interest in Swansea's Ashley Williams following Thomas Vermaelen's injury. #AFC #swansfc http://t.co/68IWBHc29S

    — Pete O'Rourke (@SkySportsPeteO) July 11, 2013

    UPDATE: July 1, 2013

Liverpool have cooled their interest in Swansea City captain Ashley Williams despite the interest earlier in the summer. [Liverpool Echo]

    — LFC Fans Corner (@LFCFansCorner) July 1, 2013

Ashley Williams is keen to leave Swansea City with Arsenal being his ideal destination, according to Luke Edwards at The Telegraph

Ashley Williams ain't as popular as Ashley Williams thinks according to his chairman Huw Jenkins http://t.co/obcaGP7Lv6 #SCFC #Swans

    — Setanta Sports (@SetantaSports) June 23, 2013

Williams is a ball-playing defender, completing 86.3 percent of his 51.8 passes per league game, so it does fit what the Gunners want in a defender.

However, his defending at times leaves a lot to be desired, hence why he's prone to making Thomas Vermaelen-like mistakes.

Just ask Steven Fletcher, who took advantage of a Williams error to score.

ANSWER: Thomas Vermaelen, Ashley Williams and Davide Santon have all made 3 defensive errors this season that have resulted in a goal.

Tom Ince, Blackpool RAM, Age: 21

11 of 14

    UPDATE: July 1, 2013

Cardiff's bid for Blackpool's Tom Ince has been officially accepted. As we explained last week, #LFC will net £2.8m: http://t.co/fOQTwFndRN

    — This Is Anfield (@thisisanfield) June 30, 2013

    — Rock n Roll Football (@RnRFootball) June 28, 2013

    UPDATE: June 27, 2013

Looks like Tom Ince is about to sign for Cardiff. Disappointing if we lose him to them. But they are paying him £40,000 a week! #cpfc

    — Five Year Plan (@FYPFanzine) June 26, 2013

Tom Ince will move from Blackpool to Cardiff City for £8 million, according to Goal.com's Wayne Veysey.

Sky sources understand that Cardiff City have agreed a fee with Blackpool for winger Tom Ince. http://t.co/RNdHIvnprX

    — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) June 24, 2013

Ince, the League Young Player of the Year, topped the Championship in the assists category (13).

The 21-year-old didn't make the step up during his days at the Liverpool academy and he spoke of how he was pushed to succeed by his dad, Paul, a former Manchester United and Liverpool player via Stuart James at The Guardian:

"As a kid, dad used to make me cry," Ince says. "If I had a bad game, he would be screaming in my face and telling me I'm this and that. [But] that is only going to make me stronger."

"He's been my advisor, he's my dad and he's my manager. But ultimately it's about what Thomas Ince wants to do," he says.

Hatem Ben Arfa, Newcastle United RW, Age: 26

12 of 14

Martin Hardy at The Independent believes Newcastle United director of football Joe Kinnear is weighing up the option of selling Hatem Ben Arfa.

"Ben Afra" and "See-See" - and now he's called Ben Arfa, Ben AFRI. Kinnear on form here. JK says he's been watching #NUFC

    — NUFCfans (@nufcfans) June 17, 2013

Are Newcastle are going to sell the one player in the squad who led the Premier League in dribbles per game for players who started 15 league games or more?

As much flack as Kinnear receives, surely he's not going to give away a game changer, especially when he's proven that, when fit, he's hovering just below the world-class catergory.

Abel Aguilar, Hércules CM, Age: 28

13 of 14

Abel Aguilar is being looked at by several English-based clubs as reported by Sky Sports

The robust Colombian midfielder spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna where he played as if he was playing for a contract.

Full-throttled tackles, putting his body on the line and playing with high intensity made him stand out.

Whilst he did average 3.0 tackles per league game, he was also an easy target for referees as he received 12 yellow cards.

Jefferson Montero, Morelia LW, Age: 23

14 of 14

Jefferson Montero, the former Villarreal and Real Betis player, is hoping to move to the Premier League, as reported by Sky Sports.

Sky Sports linking us with 23 year old Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero who has a £3.5m buy out clause.Seen him once... Impressive #hcafc

    — Hull City News (@Hull_City_News) June 24, 2013

Montero mainly played on the left for Betis and was dynamite.

He averaged more dribbles per league game than Cristiano Ronaldo.
