Who Will be the Next "First Time" World Champion in the WWE?

It's not very often that the WWE crowns "first time" world champions.  Since the beginning of 2008, the WWE has named two first time world champion, that being Jeff Hardy and C. M. Punk.

The ECW championship doesn't count.  They were very specific to refer to it as the ECW Title rather then the ECW World Heavyweight Title.  It's not recognized officially through the wrestling community as a world title, so I will not consider it as such.

There are several people who potentially could win a World Title.  I will try to limit it to five people who are the most likely.  So without further ado...

No. 5 Montel Vontavious Porter

Montel Vontavious Porter, or M. V. P., has been right on the edge of Main Event status for some time.  It's almost like he's a drunk man trying to walk a straight-line.  When you think he is finally falling over to one side or the other he stumbles right back to the middle.

Porter is the current U.S. Champion on the WWE's No. 1 show, Raw.  Now, as some of you know, I am a huge fan of M.V.P.  I however, am also smart enough to realise that when someone is on a brand with guys like Randall Orton, Triple H, Dave Batista, and John Cena, there is no chance of him actually obtaining the title.

The best scenario for Porter, right now, is for the guys I named, and some other high-profile names.  M. V. P. should get into some high-profile feuds.  As of now we're seeing him being entered in to the McMahon/Legacy feud.  My guess would be he is taking Dave Batista's spot so Batista can go heel.

I would guess MVP gains his first World Title around Armageddon time, the following year.

No. 4  John Morrison

John Morrison may be my favorite wrestler.  In 2007, when John Morrison captured the ECW Championship under his original "name", Johnny Nitro, I saw so much unexpected talent.  I knew Nitro could wrestle, but the night afterwards, he probably cut the best promo in the entire history of the WWE's version of ECW.

Morrison looks to be going face in a feud with Chris Jericho.  Jericho has enough talent that one feud with Jericho that goes into the summer would instantly catapult Morrison's status with in the company.

What goes against Morrison?  Being on a brand that also has three gigantic fan favorites, in Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, and The Undertaker.  It will be VERY hard for him to capture the title as a face on the Smackdown brand.

I expect Morrison to capture his first world championship, around Summerslam of next year.

No. 3  Matt Hardy

I'm not a fan of either Hardy, and I try to make that as obvious as possible.  Matt Hardy has been a glorified jobber his entire career.  Only recently has the WWE given him any prestige, even though his wrestling ability commands it.

There are two key things pushing against Matt winning any world title.  He is not good on the mic, and he oversells his character; and he is the brother of Jeff Hardy.  Being the brother of Jeff Hardy really hinders Matt because everyone compares the two.

The only thing going for Hardy, is he is on the Raw brand.  Raw's No. 2 heel is debatable. Some people think it's the Big jobber, but I tend to disagree.  The Big Show will always be used as guy to put others over, even though he could easily be top heel.

I expect Matt to take the U.S. title from M.V.P., but I could be wrong.  If they want to go further with the Matt vs. Jeff feud they could still take it into Summerslam, but Matt would have to win something to be over Jeff, so Matt could win the title at any time, but it's a long shot.

No. 2  Jack Swagger

I am a fan of Jack Swagger, but even I think he is being over used.  Swagger is very good, but he is also very raw.  He is above average in the ring, but even his ring work is over rated.

Swagger is on ECW, so he has a long way to go before he can capture any World title. However, Swagger can be very productive in the time being.  Feuds with experienced ring veterans like Evan Bourne, Finlay, and Christian can only help the brand, and the very young, talented, Jack Swagger.

Jack Swagger draws a comparison to Brock Lesnar all the time.  What did Brock Lesnar do?  He won the King of the Ring and he also won a Royal Rumble.  Who is to say Vince McMahon, who is very high on Swagger, won't do it again with Jack?

I think Swagger will get the world title at WrestleMania 25, becoming WWE's newest golden boy.

No. 1  Christian

Christian is back and the fans are treating him better then ever.  Christian is arguably the most talented person on the ECW roster, and could easily hold the WWE's most prestigious prize.

Christian has one huge thing going for him at the moment, he is "Edge's brother."  Of course we all know it's kayfabe, but that doesn't stop the enormous push for them to be together.  When Edge and Christian were seen talking in a backstage promo hyping Edge's world championship that night, they received a bigger pop then John Cena and Triple H, combined.

The only thing hindering Christian is he is also on the ECW roster.  Remember though, Matt Hardy left ECW and the WWE didn't even bother to draw up an excuse.  So anyone can switch whenever.

I expect Christian to win his first World Title around Royal Rumble 2010.

Who do you think will be the next World Champion?

Who do you want to be the next World Champion?

Remember to rate and and comment.  Maybe even POTD? ;)
