WWE's Greatest Hits of the Week on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and More
In the week leading up to WWE's first-ever Payback pay-per-view, Twitter and Facebook offered some WWE-related humor and a number of interesting tidbits.
Perhaps these amusing items will cleanse fans' palates before they sit down to watch Superstars strive for revenge and championships on Sunday.
Big E. Langston certainly won't be as cute and cuddly as he was in a drawing on Twitter. AJ Lee and Kaitlyn may join the list of most personal and hate-filled women's matches in WWE history.
WWE social media also featured tattoos both biblical and championship-inspired, a Zack Ryder and Dolph Ziggler web spat, drawings of what Superstars might have looked like and The Rock visiting a jail to offer up some wisdom.
June 9: Randy Orton's Tattoo
WWE's Instagram page yet again gave fans a close-up look at a Superstar's tattoos.
Randy Orton's arms are usually wrapped around his foes' head gearing up for a DDT or RKO, but this shot gives us a chance to check out the detail of his arm tattoo.
Among the images of skulls, Orton has a Bible verse tattooed on him. It's from Peter 5:8 which says, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."
This Sunday, it'll be Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and perhaps his own partner Daniel Bryan who will be his adversaries.
June 11: Big E. Langston, the Cartoon Version
Kaitlyn certainly wasn't thinking of the word "cute" when Big E. Langston pushed her down on Monday's WWE Raw. After teasing that he might be her secret admirer, Langston stepped aside to let AJ Lee berate the Divas champ.
Fan artist Meghan Lovell tweeted a drawing of Langston that trades Langston's intensity for adorableness. Langston loved the artwork enough to make it his new Twitter profile picture.
Maybe this is how Langston sees himself or maybe there's a sweeter version of him hiding under that singlet.
June 11: Dolph Ziggler Takes a Shot at Zack Ryder
Apparently Dolph Ziggler and the man who took the United States Championship from him still have some heat between them, at least for kayfabe purposes.
Zack Ryder asked Ziggler if he wanted his glass jaw broken and the current world champ had a perfect comeback. Ziggler tweeted a jab at Ryder who has mostly been relegated to WWE's lesser shows and jobber status.
As little ring time as Ryder has gotten in recent months, he'd likely relish a chance to continue this battle in between the ropes. Ziggler will instead be focusing on Albert Del Rio at Payback and of course stealing the show.
June 12: Superstar Sketches
Had a few different decisions been made, some of the most memorable Superstars have the past would have looked hugely different.
The early renditions of Mankind are awesome. They look even more demented then what Mick Foley eventually wore. Some of the ideas for Dustin Rhodes were awful including a biker character and a pharaoh gimmick. Luckily, WWE went with Goldust and made him a star.
June 12: The Rock Visit Inmates
Since losing the WWE title to John Cena at WrestleMania 29, The Rock has been incredibly busy. He's been recovering from hernia surgery, filming "Hercules" and promoting his reality show Hero. He also apparently found time to visit a jail and talk to some inmates.
The Rock wrote, "Reminded them that I was once in their shoes - arrested multiple times as a teen." He also talked about challenging them to become better.
Whether one is in a WWE crowd or in a jail, The Rock is the kind of guy one listens to fully captivated.
June 13: Permanent Champion
Rapper Gunplay had just a little of non-tattooed skin on his lower torso left and filled it in with style. He showed off his newest tattoo, a retro WWE Championship, to a TMZ interviewer.
The piece is not quite finished as it needs to be filled in. No word on if Gunplay wants to add his name to the nameplate at the bottom.
TMZ tweeted a link to a video of Gunplay talking about the tattoo, complete with some snarky commentary.
June 13: Women's Battles
In preparation for AJ Lee and Kaitlyn's collision at Payback, WWE linked to a retrospective on its Facebook page of previous personal and emotional fights between its female stars.
The lengthy photo gallery features shots of Layla dressing up as "Piggy James," Victoria shaving Molly Holly's head, Bull Nakano in battle and Wendi Richter and Fabulous Moolah's clash.
AJ and Kaitlyn have the potential to create as memorable and intense a match as many of those featured if WWE allots them a decent amount of time.
