The 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place on Sunday. The festivities begin at noon ET and will be broadcast on ABC.
In the event you can't make it to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, or plopping down on the couch in front of the television isn't an option, you can catch the biggest race in the Indy car circuit via live stream.
Here are two interesting storylines for this year's event.
Can Marco Andretti Break the Andretti Curse?
It is well documented that Marco's legendary grandfather, Mario Andretti, never won the sport's biggest race in 16 attempts. Besides basking in the normal spoils that come with winning the race, Marco wants to exorcise his family's Indy 500 demons on Sunday.
Things look promising as he will begin on the front row. His car is in great shape, and according to teammate James Hinchcliffe, Marco is in the right frame of mind. Per Sports Illustrated, Hinchcliffe said: "Marco woke up halfway through last year and decided he needed to be better. The effort we saw over the offseason was a big change. He is a different guy. It's a breakout year, and this one might be his."
Races aren't won in the mind or even in the grid position. We'll have to see if Marco can finally put it all together.
Can a Female Driver Make History?
Who has a better chance to win Indy500?
Four female drivers are in the 33-car field. A woman has never won the Indy 500, but Simona de Silvestro has the best chance to make history.
The 24-year-old has three top-10 finishes in four starts this year. She sits in ninth place in the IndyCar point standings coming into Sunday.
There is no doubt that a win would not only vault her higher in the standings but turn her into a household name in the sports world.
