The May 9 edition of TNA Impact! Wrestling, which aired live from Tupelo, MS., opened with a video package recapping last week's episode.

Kurt Angle and Sting got Impact! Wrestling started by heading towards the ring to a large ovation from the crowd. Sting talked first and discussed taking away Bully Ray's World Heavyweight title at the upcoming Slammiversary pay-per-view.

Angle quickly called out AJ Styles to the ring. After Styles refused to answer Angle, Sting reminded the former World Heavyweight champion of his accomplishments and building TNA to the next level. However, Styles remained silent and began to walk back towards the entrance way.

Frustrated, Angle approached Styles and started a brawl. Inside the ring, Sting was taken out by members of Aces and Eights before a commercial break.

Match No. 1: Tara and Gail Kim vs. Mickie James and Velvet Sky.

Your winners via pin fall: Mickie James and Velvet Sky. The Knockouts division really performed well in this match as it helped get Impact! Wrestling off on the right foot behind an energetic crowd.

Match Rating: 3.5/5.

Aces and Eights, led by Ray and Devon, emerged from the crowd and went inside the ring. Ray discussed the mystery partner that will join TNA against Aces and Eights. Quickly afterwards, Ray turned his attention to D-Lo Brown and asked him to leave the group. However, Brown refused to hand in his vest and leave Aces and Eights.

After Brown was finally stripped of his vest, Ray ordered the former Vice President of Aces and Eights to sit at ringside and watch Doc battle Magnus.

Match No. 2: Doc vs. Magnus.

Your winner via pin fall: Magnus. This match was used pretty effectively to put more pressure on Brown, who ended up costing Doc a victory by grabbing his leg by accident.

Match Rating: 2.5/5.

Match No. 3: Austin Aries and Bobby Roode vs. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian.

No contest match. Special guest referee James Storm delivered a Last Call kick to both Daniels and Aries, effectively ending the match to a no contest result. Despite the outcome, this was a solid tag team match that appears to be heading to another battle to determine the No. 1 contender's for the TNA Tag Team Championship.

Match Rating: 3.5/5.

X-Division champion Kenny King came out to the ring and began to praise himself on his current title reign. King introduced Chris Sabin and invited him to the ring. Sabin talked about his past injuries and recovery towards making another run in TNA. After praising Sabin, King allowed him to hold the X-Division belt. King continued to praise Sabin's recovery but quickly changed his attitude towards the former X-Division champion. Sabin handed back the belt and forced King outside the ring.

Match No. 4: Kurt Angle, Sting and Abyss vs. Bully Ray, Mr. Anderson and Devon.

Your winners via pin fall: Kurt Angle, Sting and Abyss. Interesting pick by TNA to bring Abyss back to television with helping Angle and Sting. A good main event that picked up towards the tail end of the match. It will be interesting to see what TNA does with Abyss' character in the long haul.

Match Rating: 3/5.
