Will Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva Do It Again?

CULVER CITY, CA - MAY 30: UFC fighter Chuck Liddell arrives at the taping for Spike TV's 2nd Annual 'Guys Choice' Awards held at Sony Studios on May 30, 2008 in Culver City, California. For years, it was the most anticipated fight in the world. Chuck was at one time the king of the light heavyweight division. Wanderlei was the Pride equivalent to that. The only disappointment to this fight was that neither fighter had to be scraped up off the mat once it was over.

Both fighters have been on a bit of a slump lately, with Wandy losing to the likes of Mirko Cro-Cop, Dan Henderson, Liddell (by decision), and Quinton Jackson.

Liddell has fallen, literally fallen, to Quinton Jackson, Rashad Evans, and Shogun Rua, not to mention that he was outpointed by Keith Jardine.

There has been a lot of talk going around about Chuck having one last fight with an opponent who also is on his way out, I am guessing to let one of them leave in a blaze of glory. The only problem with that is if Chuck were to win, it would open up all of the talk about Chuck challenging for a title again.

Who really wants to see Chuck fighting for a title again? For that matter, who wants to see Wanderlei fighting for a title again? These are both two fighters who were once on top of the game, who have been reduced to gate keepers.

Maybe these two were influenced by the movie "The Wrestler," Randy the Ram, and the Ayatollah going to do it again for one last time. The glory days are long gone for Chuck Liddell, he has been figured out. No one is going to charge him blindly anymore, which was the case for so long.

If Liddell decides to stick around much longer, the only title he will be challenging for is Antonio Inoki's title of canvas back. The only thing that really separates Chuck from Wanderlei is the fact that Wanderlei is so aggressive, that he will be able to make something happen in certain scenarios. Unfortunately for Chuck, Quinton Jackson got his number and put it on the wall for everyone to see.
