Arsenal has been in the market for a new goalkeeper and there appears to be a match. Unfortunately, it will not come easy.

According to Jack Wilson of the Daily Express, the squad is looking to acquire Julio Cesar from the Queens Park Rangers. The report also quotes manager Harry Redknapp, who said:

He's a top, top goalkeeper - there's no doubt about that. He's a Brazil international so for him to play in the Championship next year would be difficult. I can understand that - but he's a good goalkeeper. It would take a good offer.

You've got to get what you feel is value for him. He's going to cost decent money if anyone wants to buy him.

QPR is currently in last place in the English Premier League and has already clinched relegation. It is unlikely that this elite player will want to remain with the group next season in the lower division.

Still, Redknapp makes it clear that he will not part with the keeper for less than a fair price. While this might disappoint Arsenal fans, he is absolutely worth the higher cost.

The Gunners have had a few options in net this season, although the lack of certainty is just as big of a problem. Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail discussed the trouble that Arsene Wenger has in deciding between Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski to start the next match.

This should not be an issue this late in the year. Arsenal needs a new top-flight keeper to help bring the squad to the next level.

Cesar was part of a miserable year in the EPL, but he has been a part of some very successful clubs throughout his career. He excelled with Internazionale in Serie A for a few years, and has been the stopper for Brazil in high-profile matches including the World Cup.

His experience of competing at a high level would be a great addition to Arsenal. The young squad needs leadership, and he would hopefully help the players remain focused and provide more consistency on a weekly basis.

Arsenal has already looked into acquiring several other options at keeper in recent weeks, including Simon Mignolet of Sunderland and Asmir Begovic of Stoke.

However, Cesar is the best of the bunch. He was under constant fire throughout the year, yet still totaled five clean sheets in 24 starts. He also added an impressive 97 saves in that time.

While the Gunners already have one of the top defenses in the league, solidifying this spot would make the club even better. It would certainly help as the group looks to compete in the EPL and potentially the Champions League next season.

Arsenal needs to pull the trigger on this move and pay as much as necessary to acquire Julio Cesar.
