Georgia Football: Bulldogs Offer Scholarship to Huge 15-Year-Old

Randy ChambersJun 2, 2018

What were you doing when you were 15 years old? Odds are, it wasn't the same thing as Brodarius Hamm.

Hamm turned 15 in January, and he isn't eligible to sign a letter of intent until 2016. But, according to Kipp Adams of ESPN (ESPN Insider), that hasn't stopped Georgia from offering him a football scholarship.

There is no film available on the young man just yet, but judging by his size—he's 6'3'' and 292 pounds—it's easy to see why the Bulldogs would be interested.

He's a Georgia product who plays at Spalding High School, the same school where 2011 Georgia commitment Chris Mayes made his mark.

The coach at Spalding also coached Cordy Glenn during his Riverdale days. Glenn was a productive Georgia player who went on to become a second-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in the 2012 NFL draft.

Offering a 15-year-old a scholarship usually makes the school look silly. After all, a lot can change between now and the time he turns 18. But when you combine Hamm's abnormal size and the track record of this connection between Georgia and Spalding, he was too good to pass up.

As Hamm continues to grow and get closer to his recruiting year, more schools will begin to extend him an offer. But recruits never forget the school that was the first to take a chance on them, and unless a school is recruiting elementary kids, it’s hard to offer a scholarship any sooner than Georgia did.

Although this recruiting story is far from over, Georgia already has an offer in on a player who could be a difference-maker in a couple of years.
