Champions League: Sky Sports Germany Mocks Spanish Football in TV Ad (Video)

Sky Sports Germany is grabbing attention around the web for a television advertisement produced ahead of this week's UEFA Champions League semifinals. The ad, which features a sloppy matador, bullfighting and what appear to be team-themed muletas, is one big nanny-nanny-boo-boo from all of German football toward all of Spanish football.

A clip of the ad appears above. It serves as our Set Piece Video of the Day for this Champions League semifinal Wednesday. Enjoy.

In the ad, an older, out-of-shape matador enters the bullfighting arena, ready to symbolically slay the German bulls. Instead of putting on a show for the aficionados, however, he leaves the ring with the team flags of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich sticking out of his rump.

See what they did there?

Since last week's semifinal first legs, an all-German Champions League final has seemed all but assured. Borussia Dortmund clinched their spot there after Tuesday's dramatic second leg in Madrid, and Bayern Munich hold a 4-0 lead on Barcelona heading into tonight's other semifinal second leg.

German fans shouldn't become too cocky, though. With a team like Barcelona's and a scorer like Lionel Messi, a comeback is possible. And besides, didn't Spain beat Germany in the Euro 2008 final and World Cup 2010 semifinals?

Yeah, that's what we thought. German clubs might be on top for now, but Spain's place in football history is still rather secure.

Anyhow, enjoy the video and let us know what you think of Sky Sports Germany's attempt at provocation. Did it work?
