Miami Dolphins: Pat White Pick Intriguing

I will admit, when I first saw this pick, I was wondering what the hell Dolphins management was thinking.

The Dolphins have a stud in Chad Pennington. And from what the Dolphins have said about Chad Henne. it seems like he should be more than capable to replace Pennington when the time comes.

So why would you draft Pat White, a quarterback from West Virginia?

Oh—Bill Parcells probably does not see him as a quarterback in the normal sense of the word.

He sees White as a new wrinkle to the Dolphins feared Wildcat formation.

At least that is the way I am justifying it.

White is quick, and strong: a potential Antwaan Randle El.

In the Wildcat, White would be the type guy who could take a hand-off and immediately look downfield for an open receiver.

If he found no one, then he would take off with those quick legs.

White has said he would have a problem switching to receiver, but I would have to guess that is what the organization would expect him to do.

It is the third year in a row the Dolphins have used one of its top-two picks on a player who spent his college career throwing passes.
