WWE: Utilize Your Women's Division to It's Full Potential!!

Every wrestling show requires certain things. You need World Champions, you need some big names to get people watching the show, and then of cource you need talent that can have good, entertaining, matches for the crowd. There is also one other thing that you need to make a wrestling program good. It may not play a major role in the company but it is still vital that it is lead by talented athletes and that the company utilizes them well. I’m talking about the Women’s division.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been tuning into Monday Night Raw and the only women in action are Beth Phoenix and Santino (who is no women). I usually try to overlook the whole comedy thing, because Santino is one of the only guys on the WWE roster who can make me laugh. However, when you b your top Diva, Beth Phoenix, to a comedy act TWO weeks in row it is obvious that the WWE cares little about how the Women’s division is viewed. This is only one complaint I have.

I understand that it was supposed to be funny and just a set up to the whole Khali-Santina thing, but come on Beth Phoenix is the best Diva in the WWE right now; why slow her momentum for a cheap laugh?

I don’t understand some of the things that the WWE does with their Women’s division. When was the last time you remember seeing Mickie James get a win in a singles match?

Come on surely you can, right? Are you telling me that one of WWE’s most talented females isn’t even in any singles matches? That’s right.

WWE has been pushing new women in the division; like Maryse. While I enjoy looking at her see doesn’t exactly have the same talent as say Beth Phoenix, Gail Kim, or Melina, but at least new women are being pushed; that is a step forward.

With 4 programs on weekly, including Monday Night Raw, ECW, WWE Superstars, and Friday Night Smackdown, there must be some time to have women spotlighted. I am lucky to see one good Diva’s match week and with about 20 women wrestler on the WWE card that is really sad.

I remember watching the WWE back in 2003 when the Women’s division first started becoming “legit”. Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Victoria, Lita, and Jazz all made women’s wrestling miles more entertaining and made the division what it is today.

Unfortunately, much like the Tag Team division in the WWE, the girls aren’t getting much love and are considered to be the least important part of the show.

There was a time when I enjoyed watching tag team and women’s matches more than I did the main event and I do believe that time occurred when the WWE was at their peak of success.

Now with the relentless pandering to young children to want nothing more than to see John Cena and Jeff Hardy ‘beat the bad guy” it really makes me wonder how long it will be before there is no more tag team or women’s division.

The difference is that the WWE has a lot of talented women and the tag team division has very few tandems. So why not at least give us 3 or 4 good Diva matches a week?

I would love to see Mickie James, Melina, Gail Kim, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, and even Candice Michelle in a match every week. Just please WWE no more 5 on 5 diva tag team matches. They're truly god awful.

Vince McMahon should learn to utilize the magnificent talent of his Women’s division as many people still really enjoy watching the women wrestle and if all we get is Santino in drag every week you’re really undoing the credibility of the division. You have six hours a week it would be nice to see more than one legit Woman’s match weekly. That is not to high of a goal for the WWE.

I mean guys prefer to watch women wrestle anyways.  Or maybe that is just me.
