Liverpool 4 - Arsenal 4: The greatest game since last Tuesday night

Liverpool 4 - Arsenal 4 (Premier League, April 21) (Longer highlights here.) Liverpool looked threatening early doors against an Arsenal side decked out in their replica ‘89 shirts, Lukasz Fabianski saved well from Torres just before the twenty minute mark. 

Ten minutes before the break Mascherano paid a heavy price for being caught in possession, Nasri played in Fabregas who squared the ball for Andrei Arshavin to finish off the bar to put the Gunners into the lead.

Liverpool came storming out the blocks in the second half, Fernando Torres headed in the equalizer on 48 from a Kuyt cross after Sagna failed to clear and the turnaround was completed on 55 when another ball from Kuyt on the right was headed over the line by a brave diving header from Yossi Benayoun.

Ten minutes later it was 2-2, Andrei Arshavin nicked the ball in front of Arbeloa and the Russian schemer fired a cracker into the far corner. Three minutes later and Arsenal took the lead, Aurelio the defender at fault this time, presenting Arshavin with an easy chance to complete his hat-trick.

Two minutes later it was 3-3, Fernando Torres turning Silvestre to level the game yet again. An incredible match still had two late goals to lend it legendary status, first Arshavin bagged his fourth after good work by Walcott only for Liverpool to equalise in injury-time with a close-range effort from Benayoun.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 - Southampton 0 (Championship, April 18) On-loan striker Luke Varney grabbed a goal in each half as the Owls beat the Saints, who remain deep in trouble.
