Cristiano Ronaldo lit up San Mames with a spectacular performance Sunday night. With the game set the deliver excitement, the winger opened up the scoring with a free kick in under two minutes of play.

From that point, however, Bilbao refused to go down.

The home side pressured very well and made things difficult for Madrid as the two clubs entered halftime with the score set at 1-0.

But in the second half, it was all Madrid. Jose Mourinho clearly gave a good speech as his team began to pressure and look very strong in the final third.

It was Ronaldo again who headed home to double the lead after a few altercations with defenders. The winger was clearly passionate about his goal and it showed.

Bilbao then began to lose control as a few bad challenges and blatant fouls were committed. But Madrid stayed classy and answered back with a third goal scored by Gonzalo Higuain from a beautiful assist by Ronaldo.

The match ended there by a score of 3-0 in favor of Real Madrid as the visitors regained their lead over Atletico Madrid in the table.

However, for Bilbao the match will be seen a great disappointment. Their attitude on the pitch translated to the fans as the masses exited very early in a way that always hurts a club.

In Athletic Bilbao’s final match against Real Madrid at the San Mames, the Basque faithful would definitely had hoped for something more.
