CHICAGO - APRIL 16: David Moss #25 of the Calgary Flames celebrates after he scored a first period goal against the Chicago Blackhawks during Game One of the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs on April 16, 2009 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. They needed it and they got it, because they earned it, all of them a 4-2 victory over the Blackhawks in game three narrowing Chicago’s series lead two games to one.  Mikka Kipursoff was brilliant when the Flames needed him to be, especially in the third period when the Flames took three straight penalties with less than half a period to go.

The Hawks had no problems generating chances on the powerplay for the most part (ALL NIGHT) but Kipper was in fine form tonight with many highlight reel saves being apart of his evening.

Nikolai Khabibulin on the other end, didn’t look as hot as he had in games 1 & 2 and in fact was fighting the puck at times.  He was fighting something on the goal that Eric Nystrom scored, Khabi looked as if he was tripping coming across the crease over his shoe laces as Nystrom shot it from 10 on the left side of the net two feet off the red line.

Flames Captain Jamrome Iginla was angry from the get go and let it be known as he jawed off numerous times to the Chicago bench after whistles.  Himself and Olli Jokinen were using their size and throwing their body’s around from the opening puck drop.

David Moss scored his second and third goals of the series in the third period putting the game out of reach for Chicago.

Both of Moss’s goals were ones where he was driving to the net and good things happened.  Kids pay attention.  Moss now has three goals in three games this postseason earning that new paycheck.

Game three saw Calgary head into the third period with a precarious 2-1 lead but unlike games one and two the Flames did not fold as Mikka Kipersoff would not let them.  Brillient in goal again tonite for the Flames.
