NBA MVP: Who Deserves It Most?
So whoās your MVP? LeBron? Kobe? KG? Chris Paul? T-Mac? While Kobe is probably the favorite right now, there are arguments for any one of them.
Kobe is second in the league in points and is the leader to a championship contender Laker team. He is probably the most talented player in the league.
Kobe has sometimes been accused of being to selfish and not caring about his team, but with recently added forward Pau Gasol, Kobe seems to have a new love for the game and is playing better then ever. Right now his L.A. Lakers are third place in the very tight western conference.
Chris Paul is the leader to the best team in the western conference right now. He leads the league in assists and steals.
Now, some people argue that he shouldn't be MVP because he has more to work with. I mean, we all know Peja, David West and Tyson Chandler are all having breakout years, but do you think they would be having those years without Paul?
Paul is the reason Peja has so many open looks, Chandler gets so many alley-oops thrown to him, and David West doesn't get as much attention he deserves when playing. Teams give Chris Paul all of the attention and he still delivers by scoring and leading the league in assists and steals.
LeBron is the most athletic and feared candidate to play against. He leads the league in points and destroys teams with his versatility and skill. He can play and guard any position and dominate it.
Although he is amazing, can he capture the MVP when heās on a team thatās only fourth place in the weak eastern conference? Only time will tell.
Can the best player on the best team in the league win MVP?Ā Kevin Garnett is one third of the very potent big three of Boston. The Celtics were terrible last year, but now with the addition of the Big Ticket and Ray Allen, they are the best team in the league.
Early on in the year, Tracy McGrady wouldn't even have been considered for the award.
But since their star center Yao Ming went down, he has carried his Houston Rockets on a great run, capturing the second longest winning streak in NBA history. He should definitely be considered for the award.
The MVP is a tight race and the winner is anyoneās guess.Ā My personal pick is Chris Paul, but it could be Kobe, Lebron, KG or even McGrady.Ā We will find out in a couple of weeks.
