WWE WrestleMania 29 Results: The Shield Defeats Sheamus, Randy Orton, Big Show
The Shield remains perfect as a group after its win over the trio of Randy Orton, Sheamus and Big Show at WrestleMania XXIX.
WWE has continued to push The Shield as a legitimate force as the trio has beaten yet another group of established superstars. First it was Ryback, Daniel Bryan and Kane at Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Then it was Sheamus, John Cena and Ryback at Elimination Chamber. Ryback was originally put in this match before Vickie Guerrero pitted him against Mark Henry.
Much like The Shield's past matches, the group looked very strong. One of the best things about watching The Shield is how well they operate as a team. With the tag team division so bereft of talent, it's good to see wrestlers actually working and communicating as a team with a distinct strategy.
Clearly the company thinks very highly of the skills Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns possess. Otherwise, this angle would have been killed many weeks ago. Many fans keep expecting The Shield to lose, only for the group to once again find a way to win.
What's The Shield's next move?
While this undoubtedly helps The Shield, the company needs to be careful as to not letting them get repetitive. Fans can only watch so many beatdowns followed by a Triple Powerbomb.
As for the other three wrestlers in the match, it's hard to see how Orton, Sheamus or Show are significantly hurt by the loss. They're still three of the biggest stars in the company and could easily be transitioned into a main event angle again.
WWE has handled The Shield almost perfectly up to this point and a win on the biggest stage of them all, WrestleMania, is just what these three men needed to gain even more momentum.
