The next round of CONCACAF 2014 World Cup Qualifiers has arrived, and Mexico will face a tough away match against Honduras.
The Hondurans beat the United States 2-1 in San Pedro during the first round of fixtures, making them the only team to record a victory to kick off the Hex.
This team plays well at home and has already knocked off one of the North American giants. El Tri certainly has its work cut out for it.
Here are the player to keep an eye during the game.
Javier Hernandez, Striker, Mexico
While Honduras was impressive against the Americans, the United States does not have a player like Hernandez on its roster.
The Manchester United star is extraordinarily deadly in the box, and he is easily the craftiest striker that Honduras will face during World Cup qualifying.
Hernandez has the ability to burst past defenders and get to crosses and passes played to him in the penalty area. Once he gets the ball in front of goal, he rarely wastes any touches or chances.
The Honduras back line will have to be extremely focused and disciplined throughout this match if it hopes to keep Hernandez’s name off the scoresheet.
Jerry Bengston, Striker, Honduras
Bengston’s goal in the 79th minute against the United States gave Honduras a massive victory in early February, and the striker will once again be searching for the opportunity to lead his country to another upset win.
The 25-year-old has an impressive 15 goals in just 32 caps, and he will be the main target for the Hondurans in this match.
He has already grabbed a goal in the young MLS for the New England Revolution. This, in addition to his goal against the United States, will give him plenty of confidence heading into this matchup.
Honduras will need him to deliver another fine performance if the country is going to earn another victory.
Giovani Dos Santos, Striker, Mexico
Will Honduras pull off another upset at home?
Dos Santos has never lived up to his potential, but no other El Tri player is as capable of providing the team with a creative spark when going towards goal.
His dribbling ability and confidence allows him to produce magical moments when he is focused and motivated. However, his mindset is a complete wild card.
Mexico is certainly talented enough to beat Honduras without an impressive performance from Dos Santos, but this will not be an easy task.
But if Dos Santos shows his exceptional talent in this match, the Mexico attack will be far too dangerous for Honduras to defend.
