The latest news coming out about Hulk Hogan is not only sad but quite disturbing and frightening as well.
For those that haven't heard, The Hulkster sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. In the interview Hulk said he could "totally understand" where OJ Simpson was coming from.
Hogan went on to say, "I could have turned everything into a crime scene like OJ, cutting everybody's throat."
He followed that up with, "You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can't go to anymore, you're driving through downtown Clearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with you wife."
The only thought that comes to my mind when reading that is, "Hulk, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?!?!"
Having gone through a messy divorce myself, I understand Hulk's anger and frustration. Divorce is a very difficult thing to get through, and you get sent on a roller-coaster ride of emotions, but there is no way, in a million years, that you can say you understand OJ Simpson.
Simpson was probably one of the most hated men of the 1990's, when he was acquitted of double murder against his ex-wife, Nicole and her friend, Ron Goldman.
Hulk, I love you, I really do. You were one of my childhood idols, and you have given me countless hours of joy and entertainment over the past 25 years, but you really look like a giant moron by your recent words.
Saying you understand OJ is like saying you understand where Hitler was coming from. It is one thing to say something like that around your friends that understand you and can laugh it off, but saying it in a national publication like you did is mind-boggling.
If you ask the typical person about wrestling do you know what their response will likely be? They will bring up steroids and other drugs, and remind you that Chris Benoit killed his own wife and child less than two years ago, most likely due to an overuse of drugs.
Despite the fact that this country has become more open in certain aspects of life, drug use and murder are still serious issues that no one laughs about.
Hulk is a smart man as evident by being able to stay in the spotlight long after his wrestling career ended. We all get mad about something bad that has happened to us in our lives. We feel your pain and anger, we really do. We want to believe that "Hulkamania" will never die, but we can't do that if you kill the image yourself, brother.
