Smackdown: A Brand Without a Champion

Old AccountApr 14, 2009

We are less then 24 hours past from the exciting WWE Draft. Personally, it was the first one I ever saw, as for some reason I would lose interest in the WWE, then decide to watch it one time and get hooked on it.

The big news was RAW getting six draftees, which includes Big Show, MVP, Matt Hardy, and Triple H.

Smackdown also had an impressive draft to shake things up, getting Kane, CM Punk, Chris Jerico, Rey Mysterio, and others.

WWE Raw Fallout From Paris

Yet, Smackdown didn't make the pick most of the WWE fans thought would happen: selecting the World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena.

I assumed with The Game being drafted to RAW, that Smackdown would takes RAW's champion, finally bringing Smackdown to new promise.

Yet, Smackdown is now the only WWE brand without the major gold. Sure, they have the Intercontinental Title, but that shall never be the gold the brand stands by.

I am sure that this will not last for a long period of time, and with Backlash coming up, something has to give.

Here are my two possibilities:

Edge Wins the World Heavyweight Title

Look, I don't care for Edge either. But this is his last show to get the title from Cena. Why wouldn't it give here? He is the ultimate opportunist, and he needs to shine now and bring the gold back to Smackdown whether fans like it.

Yet again, Cena is mad at Edge for his attack at the draft. Who knows if it will give.

CM Punk Cashes in MITB, Wins Title

This is a possibility as well, seeing as this could happen to either title.

Even though it would be a longshot, imagine either Legacy or Triple H's squad gets the pin, then at that point CM Punk cashes it in to win the gold?

Yes, it does sound unlikely. yet there is a good chance of fighting going outside of the ring,ย leaving the open gate for Punk to win the WWE Title.

Finally, the more realistic one is with the World Heavyweight Title.

The title match between Edge and Cena will sure be a tiring one, especially with it being a "Last Man Standing Match." Who knows if either one of them will be standing after the match!

It would be a perfect time for Punk to cash it in at that time, by winning the title and bring what's rightfully ours back to Smackdown.
