"How many goals is Bayern going to win by?" The answer is usually two or more. Last week, they won by only a solitary goal. And it was somehow fitting that it was a relegation-threatened club which threatened Bayern. Hoffenheim, or as opposing fans call them, "Hoppenheim," was more of a threat than most could have imagined against a Bayern side that looked slightly fatigued after the big win against Borussia Dortmund in midweek.
Bastian Schweinsteiger unluckily hit the woodwork twice; he has become extremely dangerous in set-piece situations. It was an old hero of Bayern's, Mario Gomez, who got the goal though. Bayern couldn't add to their lead, and kept the ball in one corner of the pitch in the final minute of added time.
This week, the visiting foe is Fortuna Dusseldorf. Fortuna was taken apart in Dusseldorf early on in the season as Bayern won 0-5. Thomas Muller put in a wonderful performance that day and will look to do the same. More importantly, this game is one which Jupp can use to test the defensive midfield duo he will play against Arsenal in midweek without the suspended Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Reversely, Heynckes might play Schweinsteiger in this match, knowing that he will be suspended in midweek. Dusseldorf picked up a good point against a tired Mainz side last week. Fortuna has quietly established themselves in mid table. They have not reached the heights of Frankfurt nor sunk to the level of Greuther Furth.
This could be the lineup for this one:
Philipp Lahm- Dante- Daniel Van Buyten- David Alaba
Javier Martinez- Luiz Gustavo
Thomas Muller- Toni Kroos- Franck Ribery
Prediction: Bayern 2-0 Dusseldorf
