It looks like WWE is finally doing something about the lack of depth in its Divas Division.
Diva-Dirt reports that Kendra Smith has signed a deal with the company and is already training down at WWE's developmental system in Orlando.
Smith confirmed the news on her official website, putting up videos of herself in training.
Her signing is compelling for a few reasons.
Of course, Smith is clearly attractive and has the marketable good looks WWE prefers in its women. But she is far more than just a pretty face.
As Diva-Dirt notes, her resume is extremely impressive, with the aspiring wrestler listing her skills as kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA/grappling.
Oh, and if she didn't sound cool enough already—she also rides a motorcycle.
Helpfully, in the videos she posts, she comes off as personable, humble and hardworking. It would be easy to see the fans getting behind her if she played the babyface role. She has a natural charisma about her that is difficult to ignore.
She has also done a fair amount of stunt work in Hollywood. IMDB reveals Smith worked on NBC's failed Wonder Woman pilot in 2011 and doubled for Charlize Theron in the upcoming Mad Max remake.
So, definitely not your typical inexperienced model.
Considering Smith's athleticism, there's no reason she shouldn't be able to pick up wrestling quickly. Indeed, the video clips show a young woman who, while initially apprehensive about entering into this new industry, isn't afraid to get in the ring and give it everything she's got.
Given enough time and training, she will surely be able to develop into one heck of a worker. Which is just what WWE's struggling Divas Division needs right now.
All things considered, this may be the most promising female WWE signing in a long time.
