Bryan BrackneyApr 9, 2009

NFL's Best Avalible Free Agents As Of April 9th

Byron Leftwitch: Visited with the Buccaneers today, and the Redskins last week. His interest is starting to pick up. He could be signed by as soon as tomorrow.

J.P. Losman: Wants a chance to start, will not find it. He makes bone-headed plays, but has great physical skill.

Rex Grossman: Hired Drew Rosenhous as an agent this week, he must have blamed his agent for his lack of interest.

Dominic Rhodes: Wants the money he deserves. The Colts will not give it to him.

Warrick Dunn: Probably will retire, had a good last season.

Deuce McAllister: Might be signed sometime during the regular season, when he is healthy.

Justin Griffith: Was rumored to be a candidate with the Seahawks, but now that they have signed David Kirtman, it looks like they are moving on.

Terrelle Smith: Joining his former running back coach in both Arizona and Cleveland, Maurice Carthon, in Kansas City is not that crazy of an idea.

Lorenzo Neal: Ravens had a degree of intrest, but he could still retire.

Bubba Franks: The only legitimate option for depth in the already tight end devoid market, Franks was a disappointment last season, again.

Torry Holt: Orlando Pace wants him to join the Bears, the Bears seem committed to drafting a receiver in the second round.

Plaxico Burress: Might have to sit out a season, but agent assures he has plenty of interest. Heck, if TO can, Plax can too.

Marvin Harrison: Reports have been saying that there are no teams interested in Harrison. He could re-sign with the Colts for little money, or he could retire.

Matt Jones: Great possession receiver, Dallas has been in plenty of rumors. Might take a while for him to convince teams he is mature.

Amani Toomer: Will he leave New York? Or will he retire? That is the question.

Mark Tauscher: Unwanted by Green Bay, could start somewhere.

Jon Runyan: Could re-sign with Philadelphia if they do not draft an OT early on in the draft. Teams are concerned about his durability.

Jonas Jennings: Can provide the spark that Willie Anderson brought as the third tackle.

Pete Kendall: Had a good season last year, but it looks like the Redskins are moving on, should land a team before the pre-season starts.

Kendall Simmons: Darrell Stapleton really played mich better last season, probably will retire.

Edwin Mulitao: Seems interested in playing again, teams seem uninterested.

Terrance Metcalf: Solid back up.

Eric Ghiaciuc: The Bengals have been looking to replace him ever since he was given the starting job. If they can't land a center in the draft, he could be re-signed.

Jason Taylor: Versatility to play end or linebacker, his pass rushing skills are diminishing.

Vonnie Holliday: A DE in the 3-4 and a UT in the 4-3, Holliday should appeal for teams. Great team player and special teamer.

Kevin Carter: Showed he can still play. Packers were semi-interested.

Anthony Weaver: Can play left end in a 3-4 or a 4-3 scheme. Has the versatility to move in on passing downs. Not a pass rush threat.

Dwayne Robertson: Has never stayed healthy. Would do well in a rotation. I could see a team like the Steelers or Browns picking him up.

John Thornton: Ideal third tackle, he provides great depth, and would be perfect for a 4-3 rotation.

Freddie Keiaho: With Hagler re-signing with the Colts, a return looks almost impossible. Surprised he has not received much interest.

Derrick Brooks: Might retire. Tampa Bay will keep his number on speed dial though.

Marcus Washington: Could re-sign with Washington, if they fail to land a linebacker early in the draft.

Zach Thomas: Started the season great, but slowed down considerable towards the end, could land a spot for a team lacking leadership.

Nate Webster: Buccaneers seem like a possible landing spot, where he would meet up with Jim Bates.

Chris McKenzie: Internet rumors link him too Dallas, will have trouble finding a job.

Ken Lucas: Return to Seattle seems likely, now that his former coach, Tim Lewis, is there now.

Mike McKenzie: Might meet up with Gary Gibbs in Kansas City, where all the leadership and experience is welcome.

Mike Brown: Great players, but injuries have always nagged him. If he can prove to stay healthy he will find a place to compete for a starting job.

Roy Williams: Had a workout with Cincinnati, but remained unsigned, could land a job for some team in training camp.

Dwight Smith: Provides most to teams who run a lot of zone coverage. Good third saftey.

Lawyer Milloy: Might retire, teams have shown little interest.

Hunter Smith: Should land a job for a team with an indoor stadium, might re-sign with the Colts if they do not draft a punter.

Mitch Berger: Might get a shot during training camp.

Matt Stover: Ravens seem uninterested, he will probably retire.

John Carney: Seems unwilling to quit. The kickers version of Brett Favre. If a kicker get hurt, watch out.

Jason Kyle: Should re-sign with the Panthers if he still wants to play.

J.P. Darche: Texans and Panthers need a long snapper, might get a shot.

Bryan Pittman: Busted in starcaps case, might have trouble finding a job because of it.
