The Spanish giants are thought to be among the front-runners for the Brazilian forward's signature.
Neymar has spoken of his admiration of both the club and players such as Lionel Messi in recent times.
As reported by Goal.com, the rumour did prompt Neymar to deny that there is currently no agreement with Barcelona about a move.
Some may wonder whether or not Neymar would be suited to Barcelona's style of play despite his obvious qualities.
Still, Barcelona may want to snap up possibly the hottest young talent in world football instead of seeing him suit up for one of their European rivals.
Neymar Linked to Bayern Munich Move
The possibility of Neymar joining Bayern Munich is certainly something new in the transfer rumour world.
Since the introduction of Pep Guardiola as the future boss of Bayern Munich, Neymar has come up in conversation concerning the German club.
Goal.com reported the player's comments stating that a move a to Bayern Munich would be interesting.
Only a few days later Neymar dismissed rumours that he had contact with fellow Brazilian and current Bayern Munich player Dante concerning the club (via Sky Sports).
Manchester City Transfer Unlikely
According to the Star, the club was willing to offer Santos anything necessary to gain the services of the Brazilian forward.
Such a deal seems unlikely, however.
As reported on Goal.com, Santos President Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro has made it clear that a sale to Manchester City will not occur.
Santos will try to keep Neymar at the club until the 2014 World Cup and will do everything they can to keep him beyond that time.
