In the center of the action, he bravely held up the hands of both Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton at the end of an exhausting night. The camera bulbs flashed away. Thus, was the evening of Mickey Rourke.

Mickey Rourke along with several other celebrities was in attendance for the the Los Angeles Press Conference to promote the upcoming Ricky Hatton vs. Manny Paquiao on May 2nd, 2009 in Las Vegas.

The red-carpet event was held at the historic Roosevelt Hotel, the first home of the Oscars and felt like a Hollywood event with boxing and film personalities gracing the carpet. Hundreds of Manny Pacquiao fans to support there fighter though there was at least as many fans for Ricky Hatton.

It's not every day you see one of the world's leading actors standing next to two of the boxing best personalities and great action fighters. Mickey Rourke's latest movies have been filled with action the kind the fills every one of Paquiaos and Ricky Hatton.

The event was hosted by Golden Boy Promotions and included equal promotions of beverages like Rock Star Energy Drink. Which ensured the press was hyped up when the two fighters and there camps finally entered the place.

Legendary promoter Bob Arum took the stage and announced the upcoming event and that the winner would be also receiving a huge Pound-For-Pound Championship trophy that he placed on one corner of the stage, Floyd Mayweather Sr. stepped on stage to deliver a poem which was a nearly knockout blow to Freddy Roach.

Manny Pacquiao had some jokes of his own. He announced that following the fight he wanted a darts rematch with Ricky Hatton and that while Pacquiao normally fights for the pride of the Philippines he suddenly broke into a Scottish accent and announced "I'm doing this for Freedom....Freedom and for Scotland!!"

This brought laughs and cheers from those who love Manny Pacquiao and from those with Anti-English sentiments in the crowd. Perhaps even Mickey Rourke who after all sports an IRA tattoo. Micker Rourke, however said he didn't know who would win the fight "I don't know about this one."

Other celebrities were more committed, Mark Wahlberg told thefightcountdown.com that he backed Pacquiao, former heavyweight champion of the world Micheal Moorer emphatically picked Manny Pacquiao in three rounds.

Victor Ortiz a rising 140 pounder with heavy hands at first said it was too close to call though when pressed also gave Pacquiao the edge.

A great Hollywood send off for what surely will be the "event-fight" of the year. THe question remains which fighter will walk away Saturday May 2 with the Hollywood Ending and the win? While it remains to be seem the smart money at the LA Press Conference seemed to pick Pacquiao.
