Mr. Jerry Angelo, for years you have been my sole offender for the shortcomings of the Chicago Bears.  I have seen you be so arrogant and frugal at times it truly caused me to lose my hair.  However today WE make amends.

2001, I blamed you for dismantling the 13-3 team and turning them into a 7-9 joke.  You were a bonehead for keeping Warrick Holdman over Roosevelt Colvin.  Cutting Tony Parrish in favor of seventh round Mr. Irrelevant Mike Green.  You had Rookie of the Year Anthony "A-Train" Thomas and then changed the entire offensive line except for Olin Kruetz only to assess that Thomas "wasn't special."  Then cap it off by firing Dick Jauron who we all know just wasn't your guy.  This was your fault and I am here to say I forgive you.

I blamed you for all the quarterbacks that played for the Bears during your reign.  Most notably Kordell Stewart, Chris Chandler, and Henry Burris.

Also I especially blamed you for Jonathan Quinn, Craig Krenzel, and Chad Hutchinson not for just having them as quarterbacks, but for having these guys on the roster AT THE SAME TIME.  5-11 was the record, but the defense was Super Bowl caliber that year.  For this Jerry Angelo, I forgive you.

I also blame you for Michael Haynes, Marc Colombo, keeping Cedric Benson over Thomas Jones, and keeping Terrence Metcalf too long.

For all of this Mr. Jerry Angelo I forgive you.

Jay Cutler being the Chicago Bears starting quarterback is the best peace offering that you could have made to any Bears fan.  I'm okay with giving up two first round picks because you said that the position needs to be addressed (Bears fans have been saying it for 20-plus years).  We know Cutler is a legit QB if it doesn't work we know that you tried.

Now, you have me and most Bears fans across the country optimistic about the season.  This is all that Bears fans have been asking for you to do, make an effort to fix the mistakes you've made over the years.  Jay Cutler has become your defining moment as the lead decision maker for the Bears.

Cutler is OUR guy right now.  You are only charged now with putting in place the necessary pieces to win a championship.  One piece of advice I would offer is please remember about most people that forgive...

They almost never forget.
