This is a four-Hour event and nine matches won't fill that amount of time, so you can bet that Vince has some special things planned outside of the matches.
Since the order of the card won't be revealed until the actual PPV, I'll just order them as I see fit. At the end, I will list a few things I'd like to see happen.
Anyways, get ready... this is WRESTLEMANIA XXV!
Wrestlemania Tribute Video
Star-Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, or other
Intercontinental Championship - JBL (Champion) vs. Rey Mysterio
I don't care about this match not being hyped. Vince knew he needed an Intercontinental match on the card and who better than a couple of Veterans to put on a great opening match.
Wrestlemania always seems to be the place where storylines end and for one night, you get two guys putting on the best match that they can. For me, these two are a solid pick for an opener and I hope to see Rey beat JBL to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match - C.M. Punk vs. Christian vs. Finlay vs. Kane vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Mark Henry vs. MVP vs. Shelton Benjamin
As always, this will be a very exciting match to watch. I actually like the fact that noone really is a favorite to win this. These are eight guys who have all been Mid-Card for the past year. You also have a wide range of Veterans and younger guys.
I expect great things and honestly, I have no personal favorite. All I ask for is a great match.
Miss Wrestlemania 25-Diva Battle Royal - Alicia Fox vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Brie Bella vs. Eve Torres vs. Gail Kim vs. Jackie Gayda-Haas vs. Jillian Hall vs. Katie Lea Burchill vs. Kelly Kelly vs. Layla El vs. Maria vs. Maryse vs. Melina vs. Michelle McCool vs. Mickie James vs. Molly Holly vs. Natalya Neidhart vs. Nikki Bella vs. Rosa Mendes vs. Sunny vs. Tiffany vs. Torrie Wilson vs. Victoria vs. TWO OTHERS
This leads one to ask who the last two are. Some say Mae Young but she is up there in years and she didn't look in very good shape on RAW a few months back.
I'd like to see Trish Stratus show up and maybe Sable. This will be fun to watch as there will be some nostalgia involved and I like the idea of a Miss Wrestlemania. No predictions on this one either.
Though, I think it would show alot of class to have the winner dedicate their victory to The Fabulous Moolah or Miss Elizabeth.
Matt vs. Jeff Hardy - Extreme Rules
Very much looking forward to this. I can remember watching Wrestlemania X as a kid and seeing Bret and Owen Hart put on an awesome match. I've liked where this angle has been going and these two know how to put on a great match, plus it's Extreme Rules and...it's the Hardys!
I predict Matt will win with a clean victory. This could very well be a moment where Matt is elevated to top Heel status.
WWE Unified Tag Team Championship - Carlito & Primo Colon (Champions) vs. The Miz & John Morrison (Champions) - Lumberjack Match
The matches these teams have had over the past couple of months have been very solid and the WWE has done a great job in bringing back the importance of the Tag Team Titles.
I have no worries that this match will be a great one and will keep fans on the edge of their seats to see who will be named Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. I'm hoping for The Colons to pull this one off in a moment similar to Demolition beating the Colossal Connection at Wrestlemania VI.
Chris Jericho vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka, & Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat - Elimination Match
I like it much better that this is an elimination match where the Legends can tag in and out. This adds more action to it, rather than just having it be a Gauntlet Match. This is Wrestlemania XXV and there needs to be a match involving Legends, and having Chris Jericho as the guy to face them is a great decision.
Jericho is a future Hall of Famer and I know he will put on a great show with Piper, Snuka, and Steamboat.
Plus, you've got Ric Flair on the outside and Mickey Rourke will be sitting ringside. Should be interesting. No prediction here since there are so many factors that could effect the outcome.
World Heavyweight Championsip - Edge (Champion) vs. John Cena vs. Big Show - Triple Threat Match
Edge is the top heel in the business and Cena is the top babyface. These factors combined with Big Show's resume as a Veteran should make this a very solid championship match. My prediction goes to Edge in his opportunistic fashion.
Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker
This is probably the biggest match of the evening and would be the main event if a title were on the line. The two longest reigning veterans in the WWE will face off. Perfect. No predictions on this one since it really seems it could go either way. I'll be in full mode during this one!
Main Event - WWE Championship - Triple H (Champion) vs. Randy Orton
Alot of twists are expected during this match and I know it will be great just for the fact that it is two of the WWE's best. Orton is rapidly becoming a new breed of heel that will surely revolutionize the WWE. I predict he will become the new WWE Champion, placing The Legacy angle in full effect.
My hopes for The Card outside of the matches:
- I'd like to see Vince standing in the ring at the beginning to welcome everyone to Wrestlemania XXV.
- I'd like to see a really good showing of WWE Legends in attendance and see the WWE recognize them.
- I'd like to see new members of The Legacy make their debut.
- I'd like to see the ECW title defended.
- Finally, I'd like to see everyone get back into their childhood fan mode and really enjoy the event. Why? BECAUSE IT'S WRESTLEMANIA XXV!!!
Hope you all enjoy the whole experience, beginning with the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony on Saturday evening.
