As the new leader for the up-and-coming community "The Foxes in the Henhouse," I thought I would introduce myself to those who don't know me and share some of the ideas I have for this community. And what better way to do it than to compare myself with a 17-year-old Olympic gold medalist?
OK, so I'm sure you might be wondering what an Olympic gold medalist and a regular person have in common.
Just wait and see.
1. Our age
Shawn Johnson and I both are 17 years old. While young, we both seem to be very mature for our age. I hope this is demonstrated to you as you view my profile, articles, and comments. And, most importantly, as we all get to know each other a little better.
The difference between Shawn Johnson and myself is that while she has the TV to show off her maturity, I just have a keyboard and people from Alabama.
2. We both have medals
Granted, I don't have any Olympic gold medals, but I do have medals from participating in sports when I was younger. I have one for Citizenship, one for Sportsmanship, and also one for Service.
All the values I had at the time of winning those awards I still hold to today. One of my biggest things is having respect for one another and trying to help people instead of trying to bring them down.
For this reason, I will be monitoring FITH and making sure that everyone is being treated with respect.
3. We both love to help
Johnson is involved in several campaigns that are known around the world. From "What You Do Matters," to "Exercise Your Character," Johnson is very involved with charities because she loves to help people.
I am much the same way. I participate in helping with Special Olympics, volunteer at Children's Hospital, help with a program called Honor Flight, and have organized several letter-writing campaigns for U.S. troops deployed overseas.
I love to help people, which means if you are ever stuck and can't come up with an article, find me. If you need someone to edit your article, contact me.
If you'd just like an opinion on an article, don't hesitate to contact me. Or, if you just want someone to talk to, I'm always there as well.
4. We both love to write
If you go to Shawn Johnson's site, you will see where she has several links to poems and blogs that she has written. She says English is her favorite subject, and she just loves to write.
I am the same way, which means I will try and keep consistent articles for this community.
I have been a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide Community for almost a year now, in which I have written 18 articles, posted 685 comments, received 717 comments, gained 71 fans, had 3 POTD awards, and received over 10,000 reads.
I also write on a blog of my own about sports and various other issues, which you may view here.
5. We love what we do
Shawn Johnson is a gymnast. While I don't have that in common with her, we do share the passion for what we do.
I love to write and I love Alabama football. I also love females getting more involved in sports and receiving more recognition for doing so.
For this reason, I am very excited to be the new community leader for "The Foxes in the Henhouse."
