Is Urban Meyer the Best College Football Coach?
So I finally broke down and decided to join in on all the fun bleacher report has to offer. I usually just go on forums to write but this seems like a fun way to get my opinion out in the open, and another place to exchange information and thoughts.
My first article is my argument towards why Urban Meyer is the best coach in college football right now. I expect to hear some Pete Carroll comments, along with a few Bob Stoops, Mack Brown, or maybe even a little Butch Davis or Kyle Whittingham. No worries though, I will be prepared for them all.

Georgia Lands 5-Star TE 🐶

7 Players Poised for Bounce-Back Years 💪
Now I think there is one glaring reason that is quite obvious as to why I think Meyer is the best coach currently in college football: he is the only coach with 2 BCS national titles. In four years at a BCS school, he has done what Stoops couldn't in nine, Carroll couldn't in nine, Saban couldn't in five.
You could say the stars aligned for him, but did they really? The 2006 Gator offense consisted of not a single first round draft pick, yet after the LSU loss in 2005 when he was dubbed Urban "Cryer", he completely changed his system and went on to lose only two games the rest of the way until the 2007 season with a subpar offense.
Meyer has had two No. 1 recruiting classes (according to ESPN), and has already molded the players he recruited into a national champion with a defense with zero seniors.
You could argue Carroll recruits better then Meyer, but think of it this way: Pete is in California at USC, Meyer is in Gainesville, Fla.
Florida has to compete with top recruiting schools such as Tennessee, Florida State, Miami, LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Alabama etc. Carroll has in his backyard....no one. No one competes to get his in-town recruits.
What, you think five-star athletes really want to go to UCLA?
Meyer has to battle the toughest region in the country with the SEC. ACC. Big 12, Big Ten, and Big East all reaching into his money bags. Carroll competes with the Pac-10 and....Utah.
Now let's just look at Meyer's record so far. His career mark, 83 -17, includes a 17-6 record at Bowling Green, a 22-2 record at Utah, and a 45-9 record at Florida.
Meyer was the first coach to lead a non-BCS team into a BCS bowl game and win it. He gave Utah their first undefeated season since 1930.
He has won 10 coaching awards in eight years as a coach including, the Woody Hayes Trophy, Sporting News coach of the year, and Home Depot coach of the year.
He is the second winningest active coach in the country right now. He led the '06 Gators to a championship being only the fourth school since the AP poll began to win a national title despite having the number one strength of schedule. His 2008 Gators had the second hardest schedule that last season.
Meyer redefined the spread option Edwards used at BYU, and continues to modify and improve it year after year. Oh and by the way, he recruited Tim Tebow...just thought I would add that in.
Okay, that was my first article, hope you enjoyed it.
