Super Bowl XLIII - the greatest Super Bowl of all time. David vs. Goliath. One for the other thumb. One of the most exiting games in the history of the NFL, the best game I have ever viewed, on the greatest stage of all. So, will we ever see this again? Yes, but it is not what you think. Like many years, the NFL Preseason (excluding the HOF Game) will Kickoff with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals. I have one question, is this a good thing? Putting two teams that faced off on the biggest stage together to face off in a meaningless preseason game. Personally, I hate it. The next time these two teams play, I want them to be hungry to win. I want the Cardinals seeking revenge. I want the Steelers to be going full throttle. I want to replicate the game we saw last month. What I don't want, is a bunch of player who never saw the field during that game to go out there and pretend like they had an impact in a totally different game and feel like they were a part of that team that accomplished so much.

I have a message to the people who schedule this game year after year: It is a new season! There are new players! There are new coaches! And No matter how much you want to relive it, the game will never be the same!

So how can it be changed?

  • Schedule the first Regular Seasongame with the two facing off. Drop the scheduled opponent with the worst record from the opposite conference for both teams. Then, the respective Conference Champions don't get easy wins and the bad teams get more opportunities to win.
  • Drop it all together. Don't play the two against each other unless their respective divisions are scheduled to meet during the regular season.

That's all I got. This horrendous game played most years needs to be stopped. How they stop it? I don't know. Whether you agree or disagree, I hope it was a good read.

Thank you for reading!
