All good Mets fans can admit that the Phillies are a great team. They played great baseball in 2008 and beat the Mets fair and square.

I even wrote a article giving them respect called: A Mets fan giving the Phillies some respect. Lots of Mets and Phillies fans agree with the article, showing that we all agree that the Phillies deserve to be feared.

There are two players that got injured and gave the Phillies the scare this offseason.

Chase Utley and Cole Hamels. For a Phillies fan, this was scary news.

Don't get me wrong, I wish every baseball player in the world health and greatness, but when these guys went down I saw a opening for the Mets.

These two guys are amazing, the first half NL MVP and the World Series MVP.

I remember the day Utley went down, he was expected to be out until the middle of May or even July. But i don't know how he is now going to be ready for Opening Day.

And when Hamels felt pain in his left elbow lots of Phillies fans started getting nerves, that is how most people feel when there star player gos down.

But just like Utley he is fine and he has bounced back. It looks like he will pitch Opening Day for the Phillies.

These guys are amazing. I have new respect for Chase Utley, He is a gamer. I always thought that this guy is the best player on the Phillies, even better then Jimmy Rollins, Cole Hamels, and Ryan Howard.

The Mets fans need to fear Utley more then the others. I don't know if he was invited to Team USA, but he may be as good as Dustin Pedroia.

And now that both Chase Utley and Cole Hamels are doing well, the Mets are in trouble.

This is not saying that the Phillies will win the East. I still think that the Mets will win the East because of K-Rod and JJ Putz, but if the Phillies did not have these two great players, the East would already belong to the Mets.

But thanks to them, it is going to be a very close race to the end, just like the last two seasons. These two guys are the reason the Phillies won the East in the last two seasons.

There is no room for error if you are a Mets fan, they need to play well and be hot for most of the season or the Phillies will rise and win the East, they are a great team that will play well.

Don't forget the Mets need to beat the World Series champions. This Phillies team is going to be great, and it looks like it is going to be healthy.

I cant wait for the season to start and Chase Utley and Cole Hamels to come in to Citi Field on May 6 to play the Mets for the first time in 2009.

Let's get ready for a great season in the NL East!
