While this week’s edition of Raw is pre-recorded from the past weekend to give the talent a chance to be with family and friends during this holiday week, that doesn’t mean the WWE universe can’t enjoy the show.

It’s obvious that nothing of great importance will happen, but the fact that we will have wrestling on a holiday will make for great background noise at your party.

Even if you’re alone on New Year’s Eve, snuggle up with a warm blanket and enjoy what should be a light-hearted episode of the WWE’s flagship show.

Where: Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

When: Monday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET (previously taped)

Watch: USA Network

Holiday Holdover

While many fans will complain that the WWE mailed in its effort on the last two episodes of Raw, this is what the company does every year. These athletes must be given time with their families, and the holiday episodes tend to be more basic and casual-fan friendly.

Question on Everyone’s Mind: Will This Week’s Raw Keep Me Entertained?

As long as the A.J. and Dolph Ziggler storyline continues to unfold, the WWE furthers the CM Punk versus Ryback angle and fills the rest of the time with entertaining programming, this week’s Raw will be perfectly adequate.

The WWE makes no excuses for the quality of these episodes, but the fact that the wrestlers need a few days off is a viable reason why the company handles the late December editions of the programming the way they do. Stop complaining, smarks.

Setting the Stage for Jan. 7

While Jan. 7 is nothing more than a normal Raw on the schedule to most people, the road to WrestleMania 29 begins with the return of The Rock to WWE TV. With a match scheduled between Ryback and CM Punk to determine who fights The Rock at the Royal Rumble, this week’s Raw will be setting the stage for the first episode of 2013.

Question on Everyone’s Mind: Is WWE Mailing in Its Effort on the Dec. 31 Raw?

This is a holiday episode of the show, and there are bound to be plenty of segments and vignettes made for the casual fans watching the program. The hardcore wrestling fans will still find plenty of enjoyment in this week’s Raw as the WWE builds for next week's epic episode.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 The Rock Preview Videos

The Dec. 31 episode of Raw will be the platform WWE uses to catapult not only to the Royal Rumble, but all the way through WrestleMania 29. While the company will claim that the Rumble itself is the start of the road to WrestleMania, the build starts on Jan 7 and this week's Raw is the go-home show.
