Come To Think Of It...Canseco Targets A-Rod in New Book

Jose Canseco's new book, Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and The Battle to Save Baseball, is due out in stores on April 1st. That's April Fool's Day, quite appropriately.

And according to the Web site of freelance writer Joe Lavin, the book alleges that Canseco introduced A-Rod to a steroids distributor.  Oh, and by the way, apparently A-Rod was trying to have sex with Canseco's wife too.

What's next? He also was seen cockfighting with Aramis Ramirez? Off with his head!

Lavin claims he obtained Canseco's book from a bookstore in Cambridge, Mass. Bargain bin, no doubt. On his Web site, he writes that Canseco says he didn't actually inject A-Rod with steroids, but introduced him to a known supplier of steroids.

Hey, I've met O.J. Simpson, does that make me an accomplice?

The book apparently also alleges that Magglio Ordonez used 'roids. Lavin wrote that the reference is “that old yarn of one player injecting another with steroids, possibly in the buttocks.” Still spinning that old yarn, oh my...Hey, we get the "point."

A-Rod's reply to Canseco's steroid claim? Denial? Disgust? Some other word that begins with the letter D?  Uh, not quite. "I really, absolutely have no reaction."

Hey, way to go out on a limb there Alex. And his reply to the claims about Canseco's wife? "I don't know how to answer that."

I guess he's waiting for his agent to tell him how to answer that. If Boras is indeed still his agent.

Look, Canseco is trying to make money. He wants to hurt baseball because he feels he was blackballed by MLB. And he's probably jealous of A-Rod's success. And if the story about A-Rod lusting after Jose's wife is true, there would be even more reason for Canseco to go after him.

I'm not saying that none of it is true. Who knows? Nobody should be beyond suspicion any longer. But I'm sick and tired of all the 'roid talk. I'm sick and tired of Jose Canseco. I'm sick and tired of A-Rod. I'm even sick and tired of writing sick and tired. So, A-Rod was introduced to a steroid distributor, that's the big bombshell? Well, wake the children, phone the neighbors and alert the media, we got us a story!

I'm telling you, this is playing out like a soap opera, only the storyline is dated and boring. As the Stomach Turns....

Further hurting Canseco's credibility is the January New York Times report that he allegedly offered to keep Ordonez out of his book in exchange for his investment in a movie promoted by Canseco. I guess Magglio didn't like the script.

I mean, good for him that he exposed some cheaters and for all he did to contribute to better drug testing and awareness, whether directly or indirectly. But enough is enough already!

So A-Rod doesn't know what to say, huh? Come to think of it...I do: a big, fat, resounding who cares???
