The Timberwolves reported the following via Twitter:
Love scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Minnesota to an upset victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday. But former UCLA teammate Russell Westbrook poked him in the eye while he was pulling down one of his boards late in the game.
Love missed the start of this season with a broken hand, but he has played well since returning to the court in late November. He is averaging 19.6 points and 13.9 rebounds.
However, the All-Star power forward has not shot efficiently this season and is clearly still struggling to find his rhythm. After hitting 44.8 percent of his shots last season, Love is shooting just 36.3 percent this year.
Missing time due to his latest injury will further delay his ability to return to being a dominant offensive force again.
Minnesota is 13-11 this season and has the talent to finally return to the playoffs.
When healthy and playing well, Love can score from anywhere on the floor and, due to his passing ability, is one of the most complete offensive threats in the NBA. He is the anchor for a young and talented Timberwolves team, and he will be the driving force behind the team’s success this season.
