Royal Rumble 2013: Which 30 WWE Superstars Will Be in the Match This Year?
Aside from WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble is my favorite WWE pay-per-view of the year. I look forward to the Royal Rumble match more than I do the Elimination Chamber, more than Undertaker's match at WrestleMania, more than Money in the Bank, more than Hell in a Cell.
When the Rumble first started, they would generally announce all (or almost all) of the participants before the match took place. But over the last decade or so, WWE has used the event as a way to mark the return of a former (or injured) star or allow a cameo for one of the legends who can still get thrown around a little and who desperately need paychecks or some time in the spotlight.
It's no longer just about which wrestlers get which numbers; now, it's a matter of which wrestlers are involved at all!
There are fewer things that WWE fans (and sports fans in general) like to do more than make predictions. Admit it, my fellow smarks: You love to be the first one to figure things out and make a bold prediction that comes true.
Although my level of dedication has wavered over the years, I have been a huge fan of Vince's company since 1990, and the Royal Rumble was one of the events that got me hooked. I bought the 20-year Royal Rumble Anthology box set. We have parties at my house for the sole purpose of playing the Royal Rumble Drinking Game.
What's my point? My point is: I know the Royal Rumble. I love the Royal Rumble. If I could eat the Royal Rumble, I would.
I also like making predictions.
You think you can top me? Here is my list of the 30 wrestlers that I predict will take part in this year's Royal Rumble match. Some are based on the rumor mill, some are educated guesses and some are just wild predictions that I hope come true.
If you can predict better than myself or any of the other B/R readers, then you win. And what do you win? How amazing is the prize? What sort of life-altering experience will result from your victory?
Well, for starters, you obviously get B/R bragging rights. What better way to prove you're a hardcore WWE fan than by out-predicting everyone else a month before the event happens?
On top of that, I'll write one article specifically for you. You'll get praise as the winner of this little contest and you'll get to pick the topic of the article:
- The Five Greatest Drop-Kickers of All Time
- Which Diva and Superstar Would Make the Cutest Baby?
- The Five Greatest Matches Involving the Repo Man
- Why ROH is Better Now than ECW Ever Was
- Why the WWE Needs to Bring Back the Oddities
The article can be about any wrestling-related topic you choose, no matter how serious or ridiculous. And I will give it the best shot I can.
The way we'll score the contest is explained at the very end of the article. Now, here's my list of 30 wrestlers I predict will take part in the 2013 Royal Rumble match.
Note: This is not the order in which I predict they will appear. This is simply a list of the 30 individuals I'm guessing will be in the Royal Rumble match, in no particular order.

Tiebreaker: What will be the entry number of the Royal Rumble winner? 7
Scoring: For each wrestler in your list that appears as part of the Royal Rumble match, you receive one point. For any wrestler you guessed that appears in the Rumble and no one else guessed that wrestler, you get three points. If you predict the correct winner, you receive five points. In the event that two people end with the same score, the tiebreaker goes to the one who most closely guesses the entry number of the Rumble winner.
