Jerry Jones: Why the Dallas Cowboys Owner Is a Great General Manager
The owner of the Dallas Cowboys also happens to be a great general manager.
One could list dozens of reasons why Jones is great, but we'll just focus on the most important ones.
Here are our top three reasons why the owner of America's Team is so impressive when it comes to hiring quality coaches, drafting great players, and providing an awesome fan experience.
He Has Keen Eye for Talent
Jones is a draft war-room genius with a keen eye for talent.
His Coaches Win
Jones knows how to pick a winning coach, whether it's Jason Garrett, Wade Philips, Bill Parcells, Chan Gailey, Barry Switzer or Jimmy Johnson.
All have left Dallas with winning records, and some even came out with a Super Bowl ring or two.
He Cares About the Fans
Jerry Jones cares about his team's fans, and that's why he pushed for a new stadium.
When Cowboys Stadium opened in 2009 as the third-largest stadium in the NFL, fans had much to be appreciative for. As the largest dome stadium in the world, it features 15,000 club seats, a colossal video board, retractable roof, retractable end zone doors, and an art program.
All of this makes for a great fan experience and helps sell tickets, of course.
The reality is that Jerry Jones is an excellent owner and general manager. His team has had six winning seasons in the past nine years, and they're on track for another winning season this year.
That may not be good enough for some of his critics, but it ought to be good enough for his fans. Here's wishing Jerry Jones all the wealth, happiness, and pride that comes with owning and managing the Dallas Cowboys!
