Saturday morning will see Manchester United host Sunderland, as these two squads are at opposite ends of the Premier League table.

The Red Devils find themselves in the lead with 39 points, while the Black Cats rank 15th with just 16 points in the standings.

Unfortunately for Sunderland, they've been terrible on the road in the Premier League, losing 14 out of its last 15 and managing to score in just one of those games (h/t Goal.com).

It looks to be a rough day for the Black Cats—then again, anything can happen.

Here's your rundown for Saturday's action.

Where: Old Trafford, England

When: Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. ET

What They're Saying

ESPN's Mark Payne discussed United's aging defense, as he believes they're beginning to gel and thinks patience is the key to figuring this thing out:

The benefits of a settled back four are widely lauded and, against Manchester City, there were signs these players were finally starting to gel. Too often us footy fans scream and shout, demanding money or tactics be thrown at a problem. From time to time, a bit of time and a bit of patience is the most sensible solution.

Most Important Player to Watch: Nemanja Vidic

The Red Devils will see their captain and best defender return to the lineup against Sunderland.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Vidic will return to the Man U lineup on Saturday after missing roughly two months due to knee surgery.

The Manchester Evening News is also reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson has not decided if he'll start Vidic, but either way, Vidic will bolster the Red Devils' defense.

Key Matchup: Robin van Persie vs. Black Cats Defenders

Robin van Persie already ranks second in scoring in the Premier League, but he'll be looking to add to that total against Sunderland.

According to Goal.com, van Persie has dominated the Black Cats in the past, scoring seven goals in nine games against Sunderland. The site also notes that the United forward is a heavy favorite to score the first goal of the game.

Knowing what van Persie has done in the past to the Black Cats, Sunderland's goals against total of 21 could be on the rise following its matchup with United.

Prediction: Manchester United 3, Sunderland 1

Man U has won 14 of its last 16 at Old Trafford and has beat the Black Cats in its last 17 head-to-head matchups (h/t Goal.com).

Vidic's return sparks the Red Devils' defense and leads to a win for Manchester United.
