If you drafted the San Diego Chargers defense this fantasy season or a grabbed them off the waiver wire, you've likely been happy with the results.

The Chargers have been a top-10 fantasy defense this season and have been closer to a top-five defense for much of it.

The Chargers have had two huge defensive games against Kansas City this season and held their own against the Broncos both times they played, having two of their better games this season against them. Last Sunday, they recorded one sack while also causing three turnovers against a good Cincinnati Bengals team.

The fantasy playoffs have begun in most leagues and while the Chargers play the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday, you should not hesitate to play them. The Steelers rank just 20th in the league in total offense and have been hampered by injuries.

While you won't get the luxury of having them go against the Steelers' third-string quarterback Charlie Batch, the Chargers should be stand tall against Ben Roethlisberger and their offense.

Should you advance to the next round of the playoffs, the Chargers have a very favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

Cam Newton has thrown 10 interceptions on the season, and if the Chargers can get to him with a pass rush, he is prone to mistakes.

The Panthers average just 19.6 points per game this season—10th-lowest in the league—and it would be the Panthers having to make the trip out to the West Coast for that game.

In Week 16, the championship game in many fantasy leagues, San Diego takes on the New York Jets. Is there a better fantasy matchup for your defense than that?

The Jets have been hopeless this season, averaging just 19.0 points per game, and they have turned the ball over 26 times. Only Kansas City and Philadelphia have been more generous to opposing teams in that department.

Finally, the Chargers trail only the Chicago Bears and their seven defensive scores with six of their own. In fantasy football games, you want as many points as you can muster up and the Chargers defense is certainly worth the roster spot.

If you are in the fantasy playoffs, your defense might be the difference between a win and a loss. You could do a lot worse than this Chargers unit.
