I love March Madness. Seriously is there anything better than the upsets we see year after...well umm not this year.
The lack of upsets is astounding. If every game was won by the top seeds, the Sweet 16 matchups would be the No.1 seeds versus No.4 and No. 2 seeds versus the No. 3 seeds. OK, so let's look at the East.
Pitt vs. Xavier. No. 1 vs. No. 4.
Nova vs. Duke. No. 2 vs. No. 3.
UNC vs. Gonzaga. No. 1 vs. No. 4
Oklahoma vs. Syracuse. No. 2 vs. No. 3
Kansas vs. Michigan State. No. 2 vs. No. 3.
Mizzou vs. Memphis. No. 2 vs No. 3.
Look at those. The only two matchups I skipped was the Purdue-UConn matchup, which is a tame No. 1 vs. No. 5, and the No. 1 vs No. 12 matchup of Louisville and the mid-major story of the year, Arizona.
Oh wait, no. It's the Arizona team that's in the tourney every year and won the championship in 1997.
Yeah, that Cinderella.
So things didn't shape out the way we would all like to see, but you would have to think this will call for some better quality basketball next weekend.
