Manchester United vs. CFR Cluj: Champions League Live Score, Highlights, Recap
Manchester United 0-1 CFR Cluj - Full Time
While it may not mean much in the grand scheme of things, Cluj's historic victory at Old Trafford will not go very easily forgotten, seeing the Romanians through to their Europa League spot in assured fashion.
Luis Alberto's second half strike proved to be the difference in the end and Manchester United simply weren't up to the task in front of goal, thanks largely to some goalkeeping heroics from Felgueiras.
The Red Devils' youngsters showed plenty of promise for parts, but Sir Alex Ferguson will certainly have some 'knowledge' to bestow following his team's scoreless outing.

And that, as they say, is that.
Luis Alberto's strike sets the standard in a history-making win for CFR Cluj and while the victory only gets them as far as the Europa League, the Brazilian clutches onto the match ball, as well as the shirt of Wayne Rooney, with firm intent.
Sir Alex Ferguson will undoubtedly have some things to say to his side who saw out an uncharacteristically lacklustre game in front of goal as far as they're concerned.
Thanks for joining us this evening and we'll see you very soon for some more live football coverage on Bleacher Report.
90'+4—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
It's a case of very last throws of the dice now.
Cluj fans can be proud of their team's performance tonight, although they'd seem set for the Europa League.
That, however, is no small achievement.

90'+2—SUBSTITUTION (Cluj)
Sougou is sacrificed so that Pantelis Kapetanos, Cluj's top scorer, can take to the stage.
90'+1—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
The announcer tells us that there will be four minutes of added time.
90'—YELLOW CARD (Scholes)
And just as we mention that tense atmosphere, Paul Scholes becomes the second player to be booked today for a foul on the opposition.
Old dogs must not learn new tricks, after all.
89'—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
Alexander Büttner cuts onto his right from the left flank and proceeds to deliver a very threatening into the Cluj box.
Although it's cleared, the Manchester United onslaught continues. Stage is set for a tense last few minutes here.

87'—SUBSTITUTION (Manchester United)
United make use of their final substitute, bringing on Darren Fletcher in place of Ryan Giggs.
85'—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
With Rooney, Welbeck and Macheda all pushing forward, United are now heaping the pressure on top of Cluj but the visitors are just about hanging in there.
Of course, the result means little to the hosts but there's still a sense of pride to be salvaged here.
81'—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
The last thing any Cluj fan would want to hear right now is that Galatasaray have taken the lead against Braga. Unfortunately for them, that's exactly what happens.
What that means is that even if the Romanians pulled off a shock win at Old Trafford, it wouldn't mean a thing unless Braga can pull the Turkish champions back.
Sore.
78'—SUBSTITUTION (Cluj)
Rafael Bastos is brought off so that Vasile Maftei, a central defender, can help defend an incoming free-kick.
#mufc attendance just announced as 71,000. time to get the abacus out.

73'—SUBSTITUTION (Manchester United)
The hosts look to chase down Cluj's lead and throw on Federico Macheda in place of Nick Powell, who has been impressive tonight.
72'—SUBSTITUTION (Cluj)
Rui Pedro comes off for Matías Aguirregaray (spell that three times fast) who will look to solidify the Cluj defence in these final 20 minutes.
70'—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
Manchester United continue to poke around the Cluj goal but are still lacking that edge in attack.
Paul Scholes resorting to long range efforts—bad ones at that.

66'—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
He might be 39 years old. He might be two years older than the referee currently officiating tonight. But Ryan Giggs has been as constant a presence as ever this evening.
The yoga-practising Welshman is on hand to clear up the defensive errors of those around him and after initiating an attack, is somehow in the area to get on the end of any attempt United may have.
Looks like he could go for a few more years yet, that man.
71, 521 at Old Trafford tonight apparently. That's including the 20,000 empty seats I assume. #mufc

60'—MUN 0-1 CLUJ
Elsewhere, Gala have equalised in Portugal thanks to a Burak Yilmaz goal.
That means Cluj need to hold onto all three of the points they would currently gain from this fixture, lest they settle for a spot in the Europa League.

57'—SHOCK GOAL!! (CLUJ)
And Cluj edge ever nearer to Champions League progress thanks to an absolute worldy from Luis Alberto.
The Brazilian picks the ball up in the centre circle and proceeds unchallenged into the Red Devils' half before unleashing an unstoppable effort past David de Gea.
In fairness to the young Spaniard, the most experienced of stoppers would have struggled to keep that one out.
54'—MUN 0-0 CLUJ
Along with Nick Powell, Alexander Büttner is also proving himself to be a trusty asset after a shaky start this evening.
Sougou attempts to cage the Dutchman in his own half, but Büttner is equal to the task, easing the pressure off his side with some physical graft.
51'—MUN 0-0 CLUJ
This really is end-to-end stuff at the moment, a true story of two teams focusing centrally on their attacks, regardless of the bore draw scoreline.
Straight after making a chance of their own, United will let the Cluj attackers deep into their territory before formulating a counter due to some inefficient probing.
Nevertheless, this duel could do with a goal.

48'—YELLOW CARD (Cadu)
Cluj's captain is forced into fouling Nick Powell on the edge of his own area and instead of showing remorse, decides to be quite petulant in his reaction.
As a result, the defender is the first entrant into the referee's book tonight, and rightfully so.
Second Half
Manchester United resume proceedings at Old Trafford.
Halftime
Referee, Daniele Orsato, blows up for halftime to signal the end to a fairly eventful first 45 minutes.
Both sides have had a number of chances, but a lack of clinical finishing sees them currently staring at a 0-0 scoreline.
If things remain as they are here as well as in Braga's match against Galatasaray, Cluj will go through to the next stage of the Champions League. A vital next 45 minutes ahead for the visitors.

45'—SUBSTITUTION (Manchester United)
Tom Cleverley heads straight down the tunnel to have a look at a currently unknown injury. The man whom he's being tipped to eventually replace, Paul Scholes, comes on in his place.
44'—MUN 0-0 CLUJ
One of those youngsters mentioned earlier to receive a rare start, Nick Powell, hasn't looked out of place at all this evening.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who sits in the stands, will be pleased with what he's seen so far.
