This is my first football article ever and I would like you all to comment and tell me how it was.

Now, I am not a good football player, or Footy, as me and my friends call it in my school, but I still have certain memories attached with the game that I will never forget.

Something related to sports that was close to my heart before I became a cricket maniac.

My First Good Day in Football

I was late to school that day. Very late. I had a fight with my mother in the morning and was pretty upset. Things weren't great in school, either. Overall, I was a fifth-class student on a low.

The first two periods were games, or PT or PE period (whatever you call it).

I was late but as usual I was sent to my customary position that at that age every child hates. The position of a DEFENDER. I forget if I was right wing or left (it has been five years!)

For some reason the goalie had gone to play forward and I ended up as the only person behind. Suddenly the ball came my way and a goal attempt was made. But I stopped it!

Yes, I stopped it and I knew ecstasy! Everyone came to congratulate me for the good save I made.

After that I made about another two to three saves. All of them were hit hard and were heading for the goal. We finally won the match, 4-3.

This incident made me an important player at the back for the next couple of years and it also made me realize that someone has to do well at the back if the goals in the front have to be of any use.

Life after Defending

I am in my eighth year now. I have lost my defending ability as others became better players, and I just became heavier and chubbier. That day I was playing with a few friends and I was goalie cum defender.

I let about four goals in before I was sent as a striker in front along with another fella.

The ball was passed to me and I quickly got rid of it and hit it straight into the goal.

It was my first goal in my school career. That day I was called "DK" (Dann Khan) Klose (the German player was doing well in the World Cup at that time).

These are two unforgettable instances in my life when it comes to football.

Though now I am a fairly accomplished cricket player and a lot more agile (I lost weight all of a sudden after that), these moments are still etched in my memory forever.
