WWE: The Future of AJ, Miz, Punk and the Rest of the Gang! Holiday Edition

Nick BolyardContributor IIINovember 24, 2012

With Thanksgiving behind us and with Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa (or whatever your preference may be) ahead, it is time to start looking towards 2013 and the future (unless the Mayans were right; then we are all screwed).

Looks like many exciting things are on the horizon for the WWE and its fanbase. We have some new invaders from NXT, an awesome new hero for the kids to look up to, and some serious(ly boring) drama with Vickie and AJ.  Now with the use of a snow globe and magic Christmas cheer, we can see whats ahead for ol' St. Mick (Foley) and his band of elves (Dolph Ziggler?).

The New Invasion

At Survivor Series, we were all treated to the debuts of Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.  However, it was not holiday cheer that they brought for Ryback, it was a stocking full of whoop-ass (it's suppose to be can but I am using holiday related words...it's clever?).  Much like there are people who don't believe in Santa, some are doubting the ability of the creative writers.  How will this pan out?

Most Likely Scenario

It's gonna be awesome...at first. The new blood will decimate Ryback and any other do-gooder that opposes them.  The will roll through the Rumble and Chamber red-hot, but with WrestleMania on the horizon, they will take a back seat to The Rock, Cena and whatever other "main event" and celebrity bull snot that is going on.  This will certainly slow the progression.

When all is said and done, it may be a few years before Seth Rollins emerges as a major player. Dean Ambrose will take a few months, but his in-ring and promo skills cannot and will not be denied. As for Mr. Reigns, I see him going the way of big Zeke and Tyler Reks.  Tragic.

Least Likely Scenario

TOTAL DOMINATION!  They take over the show and get so over that they all get title shots before SummerSlam comes around.  After they take out Ryback, they destroy Cena and the other faces.

This leads to the return of TV-14 to better fit with Dean Ambrose and he and Seth Rollins main event WrestleMania 30.  All is well in the world and peace is restored to the whole galaxy  (oh yeah, did I mention we mastered inter-galactic space travel during this time period?)

A Not-So-Mizerable Christmas

The Miz is a full-fledged good guy.  This holiday may be very kind to the Miz, with pictures of championships dancing in his head.  I am getting the impression that they are building something with him and Ziggler.  Will the Miz's new 'tude get him gold in his stocking or will his past indiscretions get him a big lump of Cole (the pun was was too easy to pass up).

Most Likely Scenario

Ziggler establishes himself as a main-event talent and cashes in the briefcase to win the title.  This leads to a continuation of his feud with The Miz and they slowly phase out Sheamus and Big Show from the title picture.  This leads to a WrestleMania showdown for the World Heavyweight Championship, where The Miz is victorious, extending his streak to 4-0 (look out Undertaker, The Miz is comin' for you!).

Least Likely Scenario

It's a ruse! The Miz isn't a good guy.  He uses the position to get into the title picture.  This does nothing as he slowly fades back into mid-card purgatory.  The Miz goes back to reality TV and we are all jealous that Maryse is his girlfriend.  Either way, The Miz wins in the end.

The Scandal

First, is anyone as bored with this storyline as I am?  Watching this is painful.  Now, if you a fan of bad soap operas you will love it.  However as a lover of things that aren't dreadful, it is brutal.

However, since WWE is pushing this as a big deal (in reality, it matters about as much as Ohio State's undefeated season) I feel compelled to provide you with the most and least likely scenarios.

Most Likely Scenario

I get bored and watch something better during those segments.  Perhaps some great holiday movies and specials such as:  A Very Sunny Christmas!  (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, 8 Crazy Nights, college football bowl games. We can do this due to the magic of DVR.  It's not like they won't replay it 30 times that night.

Least Likely Scenario

I'll care.

The Grinch that Stole the WWE Title

He didn't steal it when he won it, but it seems that he steals it away from opponents once a month. CM Punk stole it from Cena at SummerSlam and Night of Champions, he stole it from Ryback at Hell in a Cell and Survivor Series.  The latter with outside help.  Will Punk be able to hold keep stealing victory from the jaws of defeat or will his legendary reign as champion melt like candles in a menorah?

Most Likely Scenario

CM Punk keeps rolling!  He wins at TLC with some help from Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns.  At the Royal Rumble, he edges out The Rock and escapes the chamber a month later.  Punk will main event WrestleMania in yet another triple-threat match against Rock and Cena and that's where it will end.

Cena will win at WrestleMania 29, sadly.  However, Punk will remain in the main-event picture until the day he steps away from the ring.

Least Likely Scenario

Punk loses to The Rock at the Royal Rumble.  Seriously, who wants a champion that is only going to show up once a month? The Rock goes on to face Cena at WrestleMania (Cena still wins).  Punk fades back into an occasional main-eventer and leads yet another failed faction.  Seriously, this is egregious!  SHOW HIM SOME RESPECT!
