For the third consecutive season, the Montreal Stars and Boston Blades have played each other in a Pink at the Rink event in Montreal. With proceeds going towards breast cancer research, the Stars donned pink jerseys for the first period, while Blades players such as team captain Caitlin Cahow donned pink laces in support.

The first period involved a lot of crisp passes and exceptionally quick skating as both clubs seemed to endlessly go back and forth. The only score in the opening period came from Kelli Stack, the 2012 USA Hockey Bob Allen Award Winner. With assists going to Jen Schoullis and Caitlin Cahow, said goal was logged at 4:32.

Heading into the second period, both clubs engaged in a scoring frenzy. The Blades would draw first blood, as Kate Buesser scored on Charline Labonte at the 1:34 mark. From there, the Stars retaliated with three unanswered goals.

Thirty-five seconds after Buesser's goal, remarkable rookie Carolyne Prevost logged the first goal for the defending Clarkson Cup champions. Cathy Chartrand, the former captain of the McGill Martlets scored on Blades netminder Molly Schaus at the 3:56 mark.

A mere 33 seconds later, Meghan Agosta-Marciano scored to give the Stars their first lead of the night. Ann-Sophie Bettez would log assists on the goals by Chartrand and Marciano.

Before the period would end, the Blades would reclaim the lead. Anne Schleper scored on Labonte at the 14:26 mark, with assists going to Kelli Stack and Hilary Knight. With 42 seconds left in the second, Stack logged what would stand as the game-winning goal as the Blades regained their lead. In the period, Montreal outshot Boston by a remarkable 32-19 margin.

With the score 4-3, the third period saw the Stars give a valiant effort. Despite the Stars' best efforts to regain the momentum, Hilary Knight would log her second point of the evening as she beat Labonte at the 3:40 mark. Vinny Davidson would be called for penalties twice in the period (hooking at 10:08 and interference at 12:38), putting Montreal in a penalty-killing position.

While the Stars played with an empty net with less than two minutes in the contest, Molly Schaus showed great poise in the crease for the Blades. Kelli Stack led all Blades players with three points (two goals, one assist), while Agosta-Marciano also led the Stars with three points (one goal, two assists). The three stars in the contest were Kelli Stack, Meghan Agosta-Marciano and Hilary Knight.
