Florida Basketball Signs 5-Star Recruits Kasey Hill and Chris Walker

Richard LangfordJun 6, 2018

Wednesday was a great day for the Florida basketball program.

As GatorSports.com's Kevin Brockway reports, in the first day of the early signing period, Florida received two highly anticipated faxes from 5-star point guard Kasey Hill and 5-star power forward Chris Walker. Both were in-state recruits.

Now, this news isn't exactly a surprise. Both players had verbally committed to Florida long ago. However, as anyone who follows recruiting knows, a lot can change from the time of a verbal commitment to when it is time to start firing up the old fax machine.

The fact that both of these banner recruits made their commitments official as soon as possible is a great thing for the Gators. It gets people talking about the program, builds a buzz and shows other recruits that Florida is a school to play for.

Hill is a 6'0" pure point guard. He plays with speed and quickness and can break down defenses with the dribble or the pass. This is a player that will be able to run the offense from Day 1. He will have to refine his shooting and increase his range to be an elite scorer, but you'd definitely expect his shooting to improve with experience.

Walker is a 6'10", 195-pound forward. This kid is ultra athletic and will be an absolute terror in the open court. He is a highlight waiting to happen.

He does need to add some muscle and refine his skill set, not to mention develop some post moves, but his athleticism will make him valuable from the start.

These two are a solid foundation for any recruiting class, and the Gators aren't done yet. They will now try to turn the commitment from these two top-flight prospects into a gateway to landing even more talent.
