Messi's now got 76 goals in a calendar year, beating Pele's 75. He's now just 9 goals behind Gerd Muller. With around 13 games left to do it— Gary (@AlbaEspana) November 11, 2012
Messi bests Pele
Lionel Messi has now scored his 76th goal of the year, beating Pele's South American record and moving just nine goals from Gerd Muller's world record of 85.
More on the goal
Xavi sends a brilliant ball over the defense for Sanchez who takes a brilliant touch and sends the ball to Messi who sends a perfect ball past Aouate.
The hosts with a great chance to level and take advantage of Barca's poor defending, but it is cleared away.
David Villa comes off for Alexis Sanchez and Tito Vilanova looks to spread the attack a bit.
