When God falls fast asleep, the kids still move to a steady beat. Even if its bombs landing at their feet, or all around I'm just saying that this time I feel it now.
- "Surrender" by Angels and Airwaves
Next April, WWE will embark on the 29th annual grand spectacle of sports entertainment, as WrestleMania takes place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
To the beat of a New York drum, 90,000-plus fans are expected to cross the turnstiles at next year's WrestleMania.
Following WrestleMania I, II, X and XX, this will be the fifth WrestleMania held in the New York metropolitan area and the third WrestleMania in New Jersey following IV and V at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City.
With a roster consisting of superstars such as CM Punk, Ryback, Brock Lesnar, The Miz and even The Rock, a great WrestleMania lineup is plausible.
Let's cut right to the chase and look at my predictions of what matches I think are possible to take place on the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania.
Without predicting the entire card to its exact likeness, here are a few big matches I would like to see take place:
Right for WWE Tag Team Championships
Daniel Bryan vs. Kane
"I am the Tag Team Champion!" We may finally find out who is the true Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania. If Daniel Bryan and Kane stay the course they are currently on, they could be looking at a showdown at WrestleMania to determine who gets the rights to the WWE Tag Team Championship belts.
The winner would not only prove that they are the true champion, they would get to choose their new, or even the same, partner the following night on Monday Night Raw.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Wade Barrett
If Kofi Kingston can hold onto the WWE Intercontinental Championship, a slew of superstars is likely to keep a guy like Wade Barrett out of the main event.
If Barrett misses the main event at WrestleMania, and I think he will, he would likely go for the next best thing, the Intercontinental Championship.
I don't see why Kingston couldn't carry this strap all the way into WrestleMania season and defend it on the big stage against a strong competitor like Barrett.
The Streak Defended
The Undertaker vs. John Cena
Just like last year, we didn't see hide nor hare of The Undertaker until WrestleMania season was upon us, and if he is to compete this year, expect more of the same.
While it is hard to keep John Cena out of the title picture, what better match to put him into than a showdown with The Undertaker?
Earlier in his career, Cena faced The Undertaker at Vengeance in 2003 and was defeated by the Deadman.
Besides crossing paths a few times on SmackDown in 2004, Cena and The Undertaker have been on separate paths in their respective careers and haven't collided.
Cena's never-back-down attitude that shows no fear would work well against a man with nothing to lose near the end of his illustrious career.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio
Believe it or not, I see Dolph Ziggler being the bad guy in this match after a surprising face turn by Alberto Del Rio earlier in the year.
With a big and dangerous event like the Elimination Chamber preceding the big event in April, I don't think the briefcase will last in Ziggler's hands and he will cash in on an unsuspecting victim.
I like Del Rio in the title picture come WrestleMania, and the Mexican aristocrat could be a fan favorite.
Brock Lesnar vs. Ryback vs. Triple H
Like three 18-wheelers colliding on an open highway, Brock Lesnar taking on Ryback and Triple H would shake the foundation of the WWE Universe.
Ryback is still likely to be hungry heading into WrestleMania season, and the WWE Championship might still be out of his reach due to a possible feud with a returning Lesnar.
Meanwhile, Lesnar could be dealing with Triple H, who he faced at SummerSlam.
While Triple H "retired" following his loss to Lesnar at SummerSlam, he is featured in the official WrestleMania 29 video package by the WWE, and it is hard to believe he won't get the last say in the feud.
The only emphasis I have on the likelihood of this match happening is how awesome it would be to see these three superstars cross paths.
I don't see how this match doesn't cross the mind of WWE brass in the coming months.
WWE Championship Triple Threat Match
The Rock (c) vs. The Miz vs. CM Punk
Now we have the main event of the evening, the likely Royal Rumble winner (The Miz) facing the former WWE Champion (CM Punk) and the man who beat him at the Royal Rumble, The Rock.
Which of these matches would you like to see most?
The Rock said he was going to be WWE Champion once again, and I can't see him entering WrestleMania without the strap around his waist.
What better match to have him compete in and defend the prestigious title than a triple threat match against the self-proclaimed "best in the world" and former champion CM Punk and a rising star in The Miz?
The Miz will be looking for redemption from a Rock Bottom at WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta, and CM Punk will be looking to take back what is rightfully his, a belt he held for over a year before The Rock took it from him at the Royal Rumble.
Some of these matches could take place, or none of these matches could take place.
Regardless, WWE has the setup and possibilities for an amazing WrestleMania, and whatever direction they decide to go, I doubt the WWE Universe will be let down.
