The Lions wanted to get the offense going early, and while they didn't score in the first quarter, they more than made up for it in the second when Mikel Leshoure scored three touchdowns to give the Lions a 21-point lead they never relinquished.

Joique Bell added another touchdown in the fourth quarter as the ground attack hammered away for 149 total yards.

The passing attack did all right but was held out of the end zone, though really once they got the lead they didn't need to force things and risk mistakes to allow the Jaguars back into the game.

Matt Stafford looked pretty comfortable in the pocket, though he was sacked once. Calvin Johnson continues to be incredible getting catches and yards, but can't find the end zone.

Johnson is still vital to this offense, but the other receivers like Titus Young, Ryan Broyles, Brandon Pettigrew all haven't been consistent enough to prove that if you concentrate on shutting down Johnson, someone else will make you pay on a regular basis.

Overall, the defense also played well. Though they didn't take Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert down as much as expected, they did fine containing what passes for the Jacksonville "attack."

Ultimately, though, this was a day to celebrate the success on the ground. Both Bell and Leshoure played well, got yards after contact and had a nice high per-carry average.

They'll have another shot at putting together some momentum on the ground when they face the listing ship that is the Vikings run defense, which has been less than impressive the last month.
